Re: Weird Fender HM Strat serial number..........
Yes I know its MIJ. It has the serial number on the back of the neck where all Japanesse Fenders have it. Where its supposed to say "Made in Japan", it says something else. I cant read it because its a little worn, and the first letter is either D or U, which dont show up on the serial number charts. I was wondering if mine is some sort of retard that they shipped to China as food..........
The other 2 I had were normal with the E serial number......

Yeah, mine has the kahler spyder and I know its jap because of the plastic 5-way and the look of the pots. Its pink too! with a maple fretboard. I just think its funny that every one that I have ever seen on ebay or for sale has claimed to be USA made. I guess its the neckplate thing.

Re: Weird Fender HM Strat serial number..........
I replaced my 5 way about a year or so ago-I screwed it up so bad that I had to have a tech fix it. Mine had a crazy 5 way in it with like 8 million lugs. Finally I just had a 3 way installed since I only used thos positions anyway.

Re: Weird Fender HM Strat serial number..........
mine had the big crazy 5 way and the smaller pots as well as the TBX tone control-but that is also in a smaller pot casing than the US TBX's I see for sale. I guess there is probably alot of variation among them.

Re: Weird Fender HM Strat serial number..........
I thought I read on the Fender Forum that the blue or pink swoop under "STRAT" indicated Jap or US origin. Probably just another unproven theory for what it's worth.
Mine has the blue swoop and the serial number starts with the letter "H". The Spyder trem makes me believe it's a MIJ which is fine by me as it plays great!

i dont think theres any bloody way to find out if there jap or yank!I have a lightblue/green HM with a maple board..and the colour tagging on the headstock should match the body colour. My serial number starts with E83 and ends with 85,dont have a clue what year it was made..lol..or where? But speaking to someone who knows a lot(apart from the origins of these!!!lol),they both play just as good and sound the same.24fret super strats good value
