I bought this from Neal Schon and I couldn't be happier (or poorer). Almost mint and toured all over the world. If you know Steinbergers at all, you can appreciate this thing.

Can you tell us how you managed to locate and score this one? Do you know Neil or something? And exactly how do you go about asking a rock star to sell you some of his gear? I mean, just in case I ever run into Angus or anything.

I think Neal has been selling his guitars thru some musicstore/webpage. He´s let quite a bit of his collection go, if I remember correctly.

This guitar has nothing to do with the junk Music Yo Steinberger guitar / bass combos out now - that's like comparing an Indian Jackson RR to an RR LTD. This is one of Ned's original designs from the early 1990's, and they're rare as hell. There were probably less than 6 built like this. The appraisal is the value of a very nice used car.

When I spoke to Neal about his Charvel last month, he asked what else I collect and we got to talking about his Steinberger. After some negotiation through his broker we agreed on a fair price (IMO) and she arrived last week after Neal returned from Japan to sign it for me.

I'm not done with Steinbergers - hell, I had to sell two great Steins to make room for this one - lol. I need a couple replacements (original models with Trans Trems are the only ones I collect).

The new USA ones are hardly junk. Ned himself has stayed on as design consultant for those models apparently.
