  • My Kami has arrived!

The ESP Kami that I had posted all the questions about is finally here.
I must say, I like it more than I thought I would.
It plays quite nicely. And sounds good, too.
Funny thing is... there is no serial # anywhere.
All I found were some markings on the heel and neck pocket.
    1/252
Custom Order? Limited Edition? Pile of crap?
    I dunno. Any guesses?

BTW, the maple neck is a one piece slab of maple with skunk stripe.

Welcome to the frustrating ESP family. I believe your Kami is a custom. I have never seen one with a maple fret board. Even if there was a serial number on your Kami, ESP does not track them. J/C has spoiled us over the years. However you can call ESP and sometimes if you get the right person they can sometimes decipher the chicken scratch that is written in the neck pocket and on the neck heel. Here is their number. (800) 423-8388.
      Very nice looking Kami.

          Re: My Kami has arrived!

Looks like a custom order to me, the only Kami that I know of came with a maple fretboard was the K3, Christmas tree as I call it. So you may have a custom shop one, Mudkicker's right, there was one guy that I talked to about mine & he did a lot of research for me & found it. Good luck.

BTW i thought Lynch models were supposed to have quarter sawn necks....one more reason i think it maybe a Roman.

I like that and the maple smokes.

That is more than likely a custom. ESP, like Jackson, is willing to do jsut about anything if you pay and will wait.

Nice. But how does it sound? Good just won't cut it.

Nice guitar. The neck seems wrong though.

                          Re: My Kami has arrived!

OK. So, I have had the chance to actually play this thing with the amp turned up.
(It's been a really long freakin' week of 15 hour days).
Anyway, the neck is definately thicker than I am used to.
But, it is surprising easy to play.
The tone is very clean, yet crunchy. (Kinda hard to explain).

J2379 - Please forgive my ignorance. But what exactly is 'quarter sawn'?

I think it´s an ESP Custom, too. I doubt Roman would use that funky old ESP Floyd. Does anyone know when they stopped using those, btw?

A shop near me has a navy-camo Kamikaze, and it plays good and absolutely screams. If they didn´t want an arm and a leg for it I´d be all over it. Possibly the coolest ESP´s ever made.

Oh yeah... the ESP Floyd SUX!
                              I absolutely hate it!
I mean, it works just fine, but changing the strings is a b*tch!
