New GMP Arrives! Life is Good!

Just got my new (used) GMP. Haven't had a chance to put it through its paces yet, but I just couldn't wait to share the love!

According to Phil at GMP, this is a one-off Custom, built with 22 frets instead of the usual 24 and red dot markers instead of abalone. I'll be calling them soon to see if I can get any more info.

Unplugged, it just rings. Incredible. The neck feels awesome...not as fat as my GMP Firebird, as far as I can tell. The heel is so smooth its practically non-existent. Action is killer already, although I'll have it set up for sure. And condition is great -- easily 8.5 or 9. Can't wait to get home and plug this bad boy in.

Awesome guitar there Crankdaddy! Where'd ya find it? Is the serial # low? I noticed that on my Elite and V that the low serial numbers have a different heel than my #901 Xplorer. If this keeps up we're going to have to splinter off into a GMP board. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Still haven't had a chance to plug it in, but I did find out the serial number: 309. So it's definitely an early one. In fact, the serial number is not on the back of the headstock like more recent GMPs...it's just handwritten in the control cavity.

And no hammer, my 'Bird doesn't nosedive. Hangs perfectly.

I bought this from a guy on the Dean forum. He said he bought in the Hollywood Guitar Center years back.

Soon as I get more info from the nice folks at GMP, I'll be sure to share.

Yeah, that's an early one! Right before they started putting the serial numbers on the back of the head. My Elite has the serial # under the tremolo backplate. Definitely post the details on that one, it's smokin! [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]
