I love how they put a Do Not Touch sign on *every single fukking guitar*!!!

I wonder which peon gets stuck with making sure they are all in place everyday? That is a nice collection of geetars, I have to admit...

If Ron goes there, He can reach any guitars up on the wall without using steps.

That looks almost exactly like the East Coast Music Mall when he (it??) owned it.

I think it is bigger than the East Coast Music.

I've been to his shop in Vegas, actually the one before they moved to this mega store. It was a very "snobbish" experience. I was escorted(when you 1st walked in it was a waiting room, where you were then buzzed through to the front desk) through the store and the whole time I was told how great Ed was and how he was the largest/greatest dealer there was. I actually ran into him in the hallway on the way out, he just looked at me and kept walking. I am curious though I always hear all these horror stories about him(and that is why I never have bought anything from him), but does anyone actually have any 1st hand experience with him, or has he become an Urban Legend. It always seems to be a friend of mine or my cousin type stories.

yes i have, most of what you here is true. & you dont hear alot since most of his fakes are very very well done. i doubt alot of people could tell one of his from the real thing. untill company STOP selling to him & authorizing him as a dealer this will continue. & they wont since he buys alot of stuff. i wouldnt be surprised if he spec'd & had templates of the 25th ann. charvels the day they arrived.

Re: A must read....J Frog review

I bought my J Frog Wonder Woman from him a few years back.

http://www.usacharvels.com/charvel/n...ls/jfrogww.htm

I special ordered it and actually talked with him on the phone. In fact, he actually called me back offering me a package deal on the J Frog Bones guitar I was debating. In all fairness he offered me a sweet deal (immediate and cash only) but this was after he looked at my collection on line and we had chatted a few more times regarding 80's guitars and our collections.

IMHO he will give you time if you are SERIOUS and have $$$ to immediately wrap up the deal...as soon as someone starts asking how much or why (tire kickers) etc he moves on to the next customer. I am still kicking myself for not grabbing the J Frog Bones as it has gone up in price considerably since the inital offer. One day I am going to break down and buy one.

So personally my J Frog deal was smooth with Ed and we chatted several times, he even invited me down to the CT shop for a tour...this was a few years back though.

But forget about haggling...reminds me of trying to haggle with Lee (GMW)- just don't work.

That pic is from East Coast Music Mall. Many of his website pics are from the old days. I know I am in the minority but I have never had a problem with Ed. East Coast Music Mall was the place to go back in the day and Ed would go out of his way to make sure his customers were taken care of. They even had a full stage in the store and would do jam sessions. You could crank an amp if you wanted to, he had more guitars than any other company and when he bought BC Rich's entire inventory you could get anything you wanted from him. He was also one of the first company that rented equipment including PA's, guitars, amps, recording equipment etc...
His store had specials all the time, fantastic luthiers (the best in the area IMHO), and the largest selection. After he sold East Coast he opened up his own custom shop place in the area and was by appointment only. I went there several time and he let me and my bandmate Dave try anything we wanted. We spend hours there and he never pressured us into buying anything. Maybe he changed when he moved to Las Vegas but when he was on the East Coast he was cool.

i agree that ed can be difficult to do business with, but if you stay on him you will get what you want. he is a big talker, but he does have HUGE inventory. a few years back (when he was in CT not NV), a friend and i made an appointment to see his stuff. although at the time, i thought it was weird to have to make an apt, it worked to our advantage. my friend and i spent 4 hrs playing everything in the store (we were the only ones there). i did wind up buying a j frog skull and bones and yes, it is far superior to the esp copies out there (i have compared it side by side to the ESP's).

thats the problem i have, if you make a guitar in your shop dont put other people's or company's logo on it, thats what he does. warb. your guitar isnt a JFrog its a roman with a jfrog logo. JG he didnt buy BCR's inventory he bought them from Class Axe. then he went thru them & made changes to them so that they would look like original California made BCRichs.

"I''ll say what I'm gonna say, cuz I'm going to Hell anyway!"
