Re: New James Hetfield Signature Guitar 2005

I saw that in Matt's topic in the Dealer Ads section. I've been eyeing ESP Eclipses on the internet for a few weeks now, but this Hetfield one does NOT attract me at all. The headstock logo is also not centered...

This is the one I want to get... ESP Standard Eclipse II:

Soooooooooooo beautiful. I'm still waiting for JCFer Shawn to receive his and give a review, then I may order one myself. I've played the LTD Deluxe EC-1000 at a local store and that was a killer guitar itself as well:

I believe Jaymz had the original switch be dummied in his first model. Because he would accidentally hit it while playing, so it switched.

I think they did that on this guitar as well, which is quite weird.

Hetfield is also a big guy, so in my opinion, a larger guitar like an Explorer looks much better on him than an LP. Does anyone know what model the white / creme Gibson Explorers were that he played on the Puppets and Justice tours? I assume that they weren't custom made for him at that stage, and have always fancied an explorer with no scratchplate!

Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

He played an '84 Gibson Explorer back then, stock. He later outfitted it with EMG's.

Not long after MOP's release he was approached by ESP and got an endorsement deal. He started playing ESP explorers.

The gibson explorer was produced by the same one that did the maple necked LPs. Nolan or whatever, his explorer was the non-pickguard version.

And those Mxs sell like hotcakes, and damn expensive here in the US. since guys have to go over to japan and get them, or find some way to get the Jap. dealers to send them here.

Yep they do sell like hotcakes.

$3500 is about the average you'd have to pay. Pretty damn overpriced, but still a dream.

Hetfield is big?!?!?. Dude, unless he grew in the last 15 years (from the time that I met him), he is NOT a big guy. He may be bigger than Lars, but that is not the measure of size! I could not believe how small they in person and up close compared to when I saw them on stage.

And I think he should be playing that white KV that he picked up in the late 80s (even though he did not like it much)!!!!!!

Epiphone has made both bolt on and set neck V's over the years.

That white 1985 King V was destroyed on the AJFA tour.

hmmm, I really think Hetfield looks so kick ass with explorers, and to be honest, I don't thinkt he finish on that guitar is anything too great.

Really, I could have sworn that I read somewhere that he got it in the first place because Metallica had finally "made it" (meaing he could afford to spend so cash on a custom) and that he ended up not really liking the guitar that much and he stopped playin it.

i read that the white V he recorded and toured with in the early days was a cort not an epiphone. words from his mouth in an interview.
1+2 = McGuirk, 2+4 = She's hot, 6-4 = Happy McGuirk

that King V was awesome! The tune-o-maticked with the "Kill Bon Jovi" sticker that covered the Jackson logo!

and i don't think his V was Epiphone, Cort i think is what i remember about it./

and the MX's aren;t as expensive as his KL's, not by a Long shot!

Well considering a KL is a full custom shop boutique luthier built guitar, that's quite normal. $6500 - $7000. Quality instrument though, amazing inlays that Ken does.

The paint job is absolutely fugly...

I guess ESP figures that if Hetfield is associated with it, people will buy it. Still fugly nonetheless.
