• MANY PICS of my bro's new KOA WARMOTH BASS!

Finally got around to snapping photos of my brother's Warmoth bass. I'd like to think I'm shooting better and better photos each time.

Whole bass and one of his amps:

Warmoth koa Dinky-P body (yeah dinkyjacksonman, we love koa!):

EMG P/J active set, Gotoh bridge, volume control, pickup sweep control, and EMG-VMC variable mid control in a concentric pot:

Dual battery box for EMGs wired 18V in series, allowing him to get immense power and the sound remains ABSOLUTELY CLEAN even at full volume:

Sculpted heel and scalloped lower cutaway for easier access to the upper frets:

    Jazz bass neck/headstock, Schaller tuners:

    Flame koa headstock overlay:

    Corian nut:

    Pao ferro fretboard, cream dots:

          Looks great!
So it seems that all your friends are into Koa...

You can start a new band with him and band name will be
          "The Koa Group"

              very nice.

and you're pictures are getting better. Although, instead of a dead straight front pic, try angling the guitar slightly. We won't notice, and it'll save us all from seeing your reflection (lovely as it is) in the face of the instrument.

Sweet, what's the finish, done it himself or by Warmoth?

Re: MANY PICS of my bro\'s new KOA WARMOTH BASS!

I think it cost him around $1400 American including shipping to Canada. He still owes my dad a little bit of money to pay off the bass... It cost more than my frickin' Shannon Soloist!!

Yeah, it's a damn shame the koa body wasn't matching the koa headstock overlay! Man, would that have been incredible or what? Unfortunately, GAS hit him VERY hard and he wanted a new bass desperately, so he quickly ordered all the stuff off the Warmoth "Showcase" page. The "Showcase" page is basically their in stock bodies and necks. He originally wanted a regular ebony-on-maple Fender Precision Bass neck with stainless steel frets but Warmoth had JUST sold it the day before he placed his order, so he quickly chose the pao-ferro-on-maple Fender Jazz Bass neck with the koa overlay. I personally would have waited a few months to get a good body to match the insane koa headstock overlay but whatever... he loves the bass so who am I to argue?

Arrrgh! You can see my tripod and a bit of myself in those straight-on photos! I should really set the camera's timer and then move away quickly next time...

The finish is trans brown on regular koa, I think. The body and neck are both gloss-finished from Warmoth's finished body and finished neck sections on their Showcase page.

I don't think he's had a single complaint about the bass so far, and I've personally inspected it quite closely too. It's true what the other JCFers say, Warmoth's quality is really what it is.

Alright, I made a mistake. The active control layout is actually the P-pickup volume, the J-pickup volume, and the EMG-VMC midsweeper. Meh.

Sweeeeeeeet, I love koa! I think the pickups are worth more than the amp, though.
