I know absolutely nothing about Gibsons.
I have an LTD Kamikaze up on Ebay and this guy wants to trade me a Gibson SG with a set of Zakk Wylde EMGs.
Is this good, even, or a bad deal?

As long as there are no structural issues with the SG, I say do it.

I really like my SG. I'd need to know more about that one to know what it's worth, a rough guess would be around $600.

It depends on which style of guitar you prefer. The SG and the ESP are completely different looking, playing and sounding guitars. I would keep the LTD. They are so "shred friendly".

Thanks for the input, I've been considering this all day. I think I'm gonna pass on the trade. I've had lots of guitars in my life, Hamers, Charvels, Jacksons, Fenders, Washburns, you name it...but I've never owned a Gibson, that's what made it tempting.

I do like the Kamikaze, but I have a lot of shred guitars and only bought it because it was a good deal. I was thinking of keeping the body and putting a Warmoth strat neck on it [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

If you have a lot of shred guitars, go for it.


(then get some PAFs in there, IMO EMGs dont belong in a SG )

keep in mind that SG is a "special" model and not worth as much as a standard model SG.

However, I think it is a fair trade money-wise. Prepare to play a fat neck if you get the SG and a short scale neck too.
