Re: Cheapest plausible les paul copy? ... washburn?

I saw that last night...bolt on..but still sweet. The bolts ons having been getting 350-400+ range lately. You really gotta watch he ads.. there have been vine inlay LP's making the surface again. There was a vine inlay Ibanez bolt on just recently too.

Tursers are cheap..as are some Dillions. For the 3-4 bills those are getting...you can snag a decent Greco or another MIJ still.. just have to shop around.

Back in the 1970s, Ibanez made a better Les Paul and Flying V than Gibson did. I do remember reading somewhere that Ibanez pulled a boner and marketed a Korina Flying V which was actually ash, but heh!

The Les Paul copy would be the Ibanez Artist. I agree, they were outstanding beautiful better than Gibson Les Paul copies. Back in the late 70's it was common knowledge that the Ibanez Artist was THE Les Paul that all the pro's and studio musicians used.

The Ibanez Artist was different from their Les Paul copies. The Artist was a much better guitar. I had a few of the lawsuit guitars, and while they looked like Gibsons, some of them were not that well made. Of course alot of Gibsons back then werent either, but the best of the 70s Gibsons were still better than the best of the 70s copies...........

Well That Ibanez is on it's way to my house, sh*t for $391.00 as long as it's not in junk condition, I think I did all right. I hope I did all right! (It will be the only non floyd guitar I own)

I use jemsite.com for Ibanez info. Although I'm not sure how much info they have about the 70s ones. Congrats, Nick.

The Artist Series was a dual cut-a-way guitar that was preferred by many "jazzers." The 1978 model did have a slight resemblance to a dual cut Paul. Did I say "slight?"

You'll be hard pressed to find an Artist under a grand anymore... a couple years ago, you could. They were rather limited in quantity if I recall also.
I think you got a decent deal on that bolt on..you'll be surpised I think for a bolt-on. Sound investments none the less.

Thanks I hope so, like I said I know jack about Ibanez, but I could use a non floyded guitar and a real 77 Les Paul would've been a LOT more than $391.00
I'm gonna throw some 10s on there and do my best Joe Pass imitation (which sucks btw)

Re: Cheapest plausible les paul copy? ... washburn?

I recently played a Warmoth Les Paul with a bolt on neck. The guitar was loaded with Burstbucker II and IIIs and honestly, I couldn't tell any tonal difference over my '68 Gibson. Did it sustain as much? Well, I didn't hold a stopwatch to it, but notes seem to linger quite nicely.

Good luck with your Ibanez. I think you made a wise (cool) purchase.

If you can find a Yamaha Weddington, they are great. They probably go for more money than the aforementioned guitars though.

OK this Ibanez Les Paul came today and I've got to say, I'm very impressed with the way it sounds and plays. Very different from My Jacksons and Charvels(duh) not really a shred machine. I'm going to set it up as my Jazz/mellow guitar, it sounds very rich. I will post pics as soon as I clean her up and my 2 1/2 yr old daughter comes down off of her sugar high, she's driving my poor wife batty!
GermanDeath, thanks for posting the link to this auction, it may turn out to be a really good cheap score for me!

look, if you can find an old FENIX LP
they´re very fine guitars(besides the pups)
if i say old FENIX i mean before they had the "FENIX by Young Chang" thing going, i mean just FENIX
