Re: Is this the Next Wolfgang Replacment?

I like the shape better than the Wolfgang. Better a 'microwaved Strat' than a 'microwaved Tele'...

Seriously, it reminds me a lot of the EBMM Silhouette or Luke.

This is from the Peavy Forum. They have already announced the replacement will be called the HP Special. Could this be the next Wolfgang replacement?

[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I was looking at the link you posted and clicked on Home and it says right there at the top that this IS the Wolfgang replacement.
I like the Wolf upper horn better but like Twisteramps said, the neck is the best thing on a Wolfie so if they keep that shape, it's worth checking out.

Just another micro-waved strat type to me,give me a real fullsize strat body any day!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Indeed.

I would always get real close to buying a Wolfgang, it has just about all the specs I want (just a maple fretboard and a non-recessed Floyd, but guitars with those 2 specs are remarkably scarce) but the shape of the body always kept me from following though. Its to. . .small, and doesnt feel right, especially playing on the high frets, it feels like your reaching under your armpit to hit the 22nd fret.

I dont think this is the replacement, actually. I think this is just another Trim-line of the existing HP line (they look like little PRS look alikes with TOM bridges and covered humbuckers, and fancy finishes and inlays on Rosewood boards)

Maybe they dropped the "Carina" idea, or maybe its still to come. I hope so. That body is ugly.

I like it. The Wolfgang was a little ugly for me.

Well at least this looks better than that limited series "Jack Daniels" Peavey they put out.

I think that this thing will do more for the $$ value of used Wolfies than Eddie's leaving did!

if it was a neck-thru and had 24 frets, id have money down on one right now.

I love the wolfgang necks, almost magical

This is from the Peavey News site:

http://www.peavey.com/news/wnamm05_hp_special.cfm

The more I look at it the more I seem to get used to the design.

Did you guys read, it's gonna have a floating trem. Alot of the Wolfgang guys are not gonna like that.

Re: Is this the Next Wolfgang Replacment?

Floating Floyd! I'm in!

I also agree with ZXY that it's a design that grows on you. whenever they start offering options on the woods they use I'll check into it, basswood does not appeal to me at all.

BTW, was there ever a set-neck or neck thru Wolfgang? I really hate bolt on guitars.

as long as the neck is the same then it should be alright you can block the floyd or put in a tremsetter

If anyone is still curious about this guitar, the new Guitar World has the prices for the Peavey HP Special/Wolfgang Replacement. I believe these are list prices.

Nothing has been confirmed or announced by Peavey though.

$2,199.99 for Carved Top w. Trans Finish

$1,699.99 for Carved Top w. Solid Finish

$1,099.99 for Flat Top w. Solid Finish

didn't the original Wolgangs have a different upper horn, like the EVH models during the Ernie Ball Music Man years?

Looks like yes.
It doesn't look that bad though.
Also I saw the replacement of 5150 amp too.

So forgive me if I'm outta the loop with anything concerning EVH...(I could really care less actually)...but I am curious if he's jumped the Peavey ship altogether?
What amps is he using now?
