  • Fernandes pawn shop find

In my monthly pawn shop excursion I stumbled across a Fernandes strat with what appears to be a Jackson neck. 22fret reverse headstock, sharkies, raw oil finished neck.
The rest of the guitar is in ok shape.
I am thinking about going back and getting it for the neck for one of my projects. If it is a Jackson/Charvel neck. Can anyone remember a model from Fernandes that had such a neck. I have never seen one like this from Fernandes. Most I have seen have been strat styled headstocks.
The guitar has active electronics, battery access on back of body, Fernandes floyd copy, H/S/S. The heel has a similar offset 4 bolt pattern like an ESP.
I should add the headstock is just black nothing else, no neck plate. The trem was the only thing that had Fernandes on it. It may be a complete parts rig.
    Thanks for any info.

Could be parts, but didn't Fernandes do some pointy headstocks back in the '80s? I know they used to make a Rhoads copy that was eerily accurate.

If the neck is nice, who cares who made it, anyway.

What makes you think it is a Jackson neck? Does it say Jackson on it? If so, what makes you think the rest of the guitar is a Fernandes? If you mean it is a Fernandes with a Jackson style headstock, then yes, they made a number of them in Rhoads, and Soloist/Dinky body shapes. But then it would have a Fernandes logo on it.

Are you thinking of a Fernandes Revolver 120HH? I don't remember if they had a reverse headstock or not, but I had the H-S version the FR-65 and it was sweet and the neck was nice, but it wasn't oil finished.

That body looks almost identical down to the two small switches. But this one has a 22fret reverse J/C styled pointy headstock neck with sharkies and oil finish and jumbo frets. No logo on the headstock just black.
I am going to try and get by there tomorrow. I'll try and get a pic or if I can work a deal I may just buy it.

OK I went back this morning. I talked him into an ok deal. I got it for $100, no case, no bar for the trem(just curious do people eat these things). I'll get pics up tonight or tomorrow.

                  Re: Fernandes pawn shop find

Here are the pics. This is one dirty guitar. I don't think it has ever been cleaned. After a much closer inspection this not a J/C neck. It is very close. The back shape is identical to my model series necks. But the scarf joint is all wrong. Plus the pointy head is slightly narrower in the middle of the head stock, again compared to an 80's model series neck.
As for the sustainer it is pretty cool. I didn't spend a lot of time playing with it. I thought I was going to need a Tetanus shot if one of the old strings cut me. Anyone here ever use one?

                      Re: Fernandes pawn shop find

Fernandes did Charvel & Jackson pointy copies-both bolt on and neck thrus complete with sharkies.

I'm putting in my dibs for the sustainer circuit if it works and you want to sell it( I need a single).

100.00 was a steal for that. That is probably early 90's ESP/Fernandes.

Charvelguy it is funny you mention ESP the frets are the super jumbos like those on my Lynch Skulls and Snakes.

                          Re: Fernandes pawn shop find

Fernandes is essentially ESP- a marketed division of ESP.
Same as Navigator, Burny, Edwards and probably a few others.

Here it is all back together. After a little soap and water, polish, and oil it is not a bad looking guitar. Charvel guy if I do part her out you have first dibs on the sustainer
