Where were these made? I saw one for a good price and I'm wondering if they are American made?

Yeah the Plats suck for tone and playability - just watch this poor shlep from Summer NAMM last year struggling with one:

maybe i got a good one then. Mine has the chesswood body from a few years back, loaded with EMGs it holds up very well. Obviously not comparable to my SL1, but for the price i'm not complaining.

Like stated, they are made of agathis now, which is even cheaper than chesswood. Check it out, but it would perhaps be more worth saving up a bit longer for the NJ models, with all the changes they have done to their model line recently.

Bah. Those NJ models are nothing to write home about. I played a few today and they were no better than the platinums. I have an older NJ Warlock and it's no better really - which is probably why I can't sell the damn thing - everybody but me knew they sucked

Yep Newc. I'm sure that's just like the ones hanging on the wall at GC. I'm sure the NAMM ones have the factory setup as well.

Re: BC Rich Plat Series

I still say Plats are generally crap. However, I have found that the neckthrough NJs, either from the 80s (I recall a Warlokc that was awsome) or newer ones (my cousin has a Mocking Bird and a Warlock) actaully play and sound pretty killer once you dump the factory P-ups for SDs etc. Dye the board ebony and drop in a real floyd and I moght almost get one (never could get into BC Rich enough to actually pay money for one).
"I''ll say what I'm gonna say, cuz I'm going to Hell anyway!"

Um, for what it costs you to "dump the factory P-ups for SDs etc. Dye the board ebony and drop in a real floyd" can't you buy a good guitar?

why would you dye the board ebony? It still wouldn't be ebony, which leads me to ask why does it have to be ebony?
