    [ QUOTE ]
if you think those hz's dude sound like shit you got problems with your ears dude , they are made in the states in the same factory as the 81's !

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1. Nobody has ears problem. Tone is subjective. I wasnt impressed by the HZ at all. A tiny percentage love, others dont. So you're preveligiate (sp?) to love them i guess. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

    2. [they are made in the states in the same factory as the 81's !] Come on... that doesnt mean anything... if your squier was made in japan in the same factory they made the MIJ Fender... they are not meant to be as good...

Anyway, I know how its difficult to get good prices on stuff in Canada... but we got our awesome Jcf dealers that can put up very good price. Even with the exchange rate and shipping we can save more than 700 bucks on a usa made jackson

              Re: my newest axe

I own guitars with both HZ's and 81's. And the HZ's (at least the bridge one) sound very weak and tinny compared to the 81's, but, I guess that's those hearing problems kickin' in.

                Re: my newest axe

I had the hz's in my slsmg and i thought they sounded horrible.
Also, in my experience agathis sounds lifeless and not resonant to me.
I think if you heard a nice piece of alder, mahogany, even basswood, you'll know the difference immediately.
Or I just might have a hearing problem...lol

                    Re: my newest axe

                    I am currently playing a usa wolfgang thru a tech 21 tm60.
Are you playing thru a line 6 amp or pod?
I've had a couple of line 6 amps and they make all my guitars sound similar.

                      Re: my newest axe

we use the pod on a bunch of stuff on our new cd and dave used his v amp2 on some stuff as well . all my guitar stuff was done with emg h3 and h4 pickups jackson and esp/ltd guitars , I have a v ampire 1/12 for teaching witch I could have used but I like the line 6 pod stuff better sounds totally real awesome di . my live rigg is a peavey xxl head through a behringer 4/12 cab , with the x vamp pedal [all modeling and cab sim shut off only used for fx!] and also one of those new volume pedals they came out with [very very similar to the boss ones] and also a ultra g active di ,I use the volume pedal in the loop of both the v ampire [for smaller gigs or jams but mainly for teaching] and the xxl head . I think eventually I will get slant cab number 2 from behringer [my wife would kill me right now lol] , I get a killer deal on all the behringer stuff cause I teach at the store of the behringer dealer here in town , and that shit is already dirt cheap to buy . and I get to write off the taxes and the product cause I am self employed lol got deal for me no matter what , but I wish he had line 6 as well , I think some of their stuff is way way better , like the pod xt lol but the mesa head sound is real real similar [the v amp 2] to the real deal , I have tryed em out back to back with a dual recto resently and the v ampire head sounds a hell of a lot better than the recto for lots of reasons but the tone is almost exact , I tryed em out through a reverra 4/12 cab and a marshall 4/12 cab [a 900 I think]//Steve

                        Re: my newest axe

we sell the tech 21 stuff as well but for me they sound way to muddy on high gain settings and they don't have that much gain , compared to my xxl head [witch is wat to much gain lol it's on 7 or 8 [gain]right now with the noise gate at 7 lol] but to be fair I never tryed those tech 21s out with emgs passive or active , only duncans [jb,s and invaders]//Steve

                          Re: my newest axe

i think this is why you think the agathis and hz's are good.
in my experience, most modelling equipment makes all my guitars sound similar.(my prs sounded like my axis which also sounded like my jackson)
if you took the guitars straight into a nice tube amp, you'll hear the difference in pickups, woods, etc.
i first started to notice a big difference in pickups and woods when i tried out a thd univalve. every guitar, pickup, etc sounded different.

i tryed it through the mesa it sounded fine , by the sounds of it , it sounds like I just got a good one and yes I have heard lotssa guys say the tone is different from guitar to guitar , dave loved it and was blown away and hes got a xtrr custom shop prototype a tokai les paul and some imports . this guitar so far totally blows all my import jacksons I have had out of the water , last year [2003] I was totally dissing esps but now no way . also the h4 is what is in all of alexi laihos 3600 dollar esps so I think that says something forsure , he could have had 81's put in em and the other guys had active pickups in they'res [except roope has a duncan invader in his], but I did try 2 ltds last year from the 2000 to 2002 line and they played like shit and were big and bulky , but all the new stuff so far seems totally up to par forsure. //Steve

also modeling stuff aren't like triggers for the guitar lol and aren't suppose to sound that way either , I have played all types of pickups through the pod stuff and they all sound different [duncans 81's 85's hz's kent armstrong ,jackson stock pickups ect ect ]//Steve

HZ's in my trio of DXMGT's sound good enough that they are stayin'. I usually replace all pickups in my imports. Amps they are played thru are Mesa Triple Rect & Randall RM100. I really like the neck pickup!
