ESPs are also really starting to appeal to me too. I'll never sell my Jackson, but I know that either one of the next two guitar purchases in my near future will be an ESP. If you're looking for someone to blame, find WarriorX7... he showed me the ESPs!

I've got a M-200fm as well as a couple neck through ESP/LTD's. I really like the necks on them and they are such a great bang for the buck for sure.

I almost bought one of those, but decided that it would likely be a downgrade from my SL3. What do you think of the tone from the agathis body?

Agathis - the worst sounding wood IMO

Agathis is what the factory uses when they run out of chesswood or nato/laminated hardwood.

agathis is what they use on those $99 bc riches and squiers.
in my experience, they sound like a$$.
you might be better off buying a used charvel model series or i really like the brian moore i2000 imports myself.

My MH-400 is mohagany w/maple neck and so is my MH-301. Both those guitars sound great, my M200fm is Agathis and it doesn't sound as good as the MH's it still sounds pretty decent. Although it has those shitty HZ's in it.

Re: my newest axe

I have to say it played nice right out of the box. I wish Jackson had an import neck through for that price. but they don't.

The SLSMG is about $860 before taxes and shipping and the SL3 about $1300 before shipping and taxes. that from MF so it's probably alot more from the local Jackson dealer up here.

sounds and looks like mahog to me , as good as a sl3 forsure and a hell of a lot cheaper the emg hz h4s are bloody amazing , sound just like the 81's but a bit cleaner just a touch , also has a coil spliter push/pull knob as well the workmanship it awesome . I have heard that the tone of the athiggiss or whatever it is called is hit and miss and that some [200fm's] do sound brighter or darker , athigiss is suppose to be just another word [in korea or where ever] for alder or mahog or something . but same wood and same tonal quailities . rad guitar , 2004 and up ltds are a hell of alot better than the old ones were thats forsure , the older set thru [and mine is a neck thru !]models felt cheap and this doesn't . //Steve

if you think those hz's dude sound like shit you got problems with your ears dude , they are made in the states in the same factory as the 81's ! I'll have sound samples up in the next couple of months and you can compare the tone to daves 81's and you can't hear the differnce in any quaility between the 2 pick ups , acually due to space there is one spot on or new cd where dave does a punch right at the end of my solo doing the same note as me back to back and there is absolutly no differnce in tone at all ! //Steve
