  • Does there exist a 24-fret Fender Strat?

Does there exist a 24-fret Fender Strat? All I ever see are 22's. Also, a floyd and EMGs are almost requirements.

Youre probably saying...Just play your Jacksons! I like the feel of a Strat I played recently. (not converting, don't worry)

    Yes.
    HM Strat from 80's.
These had Dimarzio pickups and Floyd.
Not exactly Strat shape but kind of modified Strat body.

If you like Strat shape with 24frets, there are some Jackson from 80's and these have 24frets.
Such as Limited Edition Jackson from 88?
I see these on E-bay very often and go for around $600.

You could get a 24 fret Warmoth neck, but you lose the neck pup.

As mentioned before there is the HM Strat. Another option is Squire, a couple years ago they had what was basically a neck thru HM Strat with 24 frets, even had a 7 string version too. I don't think they are made any more though. You have to check eBay for those.

HM strat. They are great, I wish I had never sold mine. Great guitar for the buck.

They do make a 24-fret neck that'll fit in place of the regular 21- or 22-fret Fender necks, but it's actually a 24.75" short scale like a LP.

HM's are cool, but they dont feel much like a strat, IMO.

They dont even look like strats, apart from the headstock. No pickguard, generic super strat shaped body, floyd.

If you want something that feels like a strat, I would just get a regular "maiden-y" strat with a floyd and humbuckers, 22 fret necks arent THAT limiting.

[/ QUOTE ]That depends entirely on the specific music you like to write and play. If 22 frets is fine for you, fine FOR YOU, but don't dismiss the guy's want for 24 frets if he says that's what he wants. That's like saying if you want a Strathead you should be okay with a pointy headstock because "what's the diff on the fretbord?".Granted what he wants is not that available, but since I'd like that myself, I can relate. If I got a HM STrat though, I can live with no pickguard, but I'd sand down the headstock and put a real Stratocaster logo instead of that black headstock with "Strat" in big ugly letters that it comes with. That kind of ruins that guitar for me aesthetically, though it wouldn't stop me from getting one at a good price.

I've played an HM Strat and it was pretty cool, the Squire neck thru thing they were doing a few years ago (I think they called it Stagemaster) was great too ... even had a 7 string version for a while. Fender needs to bring those back!

HM Strats are like the 3 bears. I had one that was too crappy, one that was too nice, and one that was just right............

Yeah, that's the standard 24-fret extension with the overhang. The short-scale 24-fret has no overhang and fits in place of the 21- or 22-fret neck. I was given this info straight from Warmoth. Why they don't advertise it on their site, I don't know.
