i was looking around at some esp's today an i came agross the Eclipse II now unlike the ec 1000 this thing appears to have a much larger body... its got two tone's and 2 volumes. Is this body any different then a les paul in size and comfort. what are the Prices like on these eclipse II, if its not to much i might have to snag one if i get the chance. let me know what you think

Re: Eclipse II bodies vs. les paul body
I am not sure about size relating to bodies etc. I have a 57' RI Goldtop Paul that I love. I am going to get an EC-1000 LTD. in May w/JB-59 in amberburst.
Mainly I am getting it because of the locking tuners and the Earvana compensated nut which I don't think that the Eclipses have the Earvana nut on them.
Will let you know differences when I get it.

Re: Eclipse II bodies vs. les paul body
I have both an Eclipse and a 2002 LP with a 60's neck. Without going into too much detail, the Eclipse is thinner and much lighter than a Les Paul and it also has a belly contour at the back. IMO the neck on mine does not feel like a Les Paul at all.
Basically, I was describing the ESP to the brother of a friend last night and the best I could come up with is that it looks like a modern take on a Les Paul but plays like a non trem superstrat....Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

That's a very good description of it right there. WarriorX7 recommended ESP Eclipses to me for that reason since I wasn't diehard about owning a true Gibson Les Paul, and I only wanted some sort of singlecut shape.
True, the Eclipse is thinner than the Les Paul. They also sound remarkably different, I am told.
And the LTD EC-1000 Deluxe is a 24-fret smaller bodied singlecut style. To me, it doesn't even look much like a Les Paul due to the obvious size difference. But man, surprisingly the LTD EC-1000 Deluxe is a WONDERFUL guitar to play.

Oh crap! I have no idea whether Shawn's source has left handed models or not. Better check with him anyways.
From ESPguitars.com:
Question: Are all ESP / LTD models available in left-hand versions?
Answer: Any ESP custom shop model can be ordered in left-handed - there will be an additional charge of 15% for these orders. Only a few standard ESP / LTD models are available in left-handed versions. Please contact the ESP Sales Dept. for L/H model availability.

They have a separate custom shop in California. At one time they had a shop on 48th Street in New York, but I believe that's gone.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
