  • El-Cheapo Bass guitars for noodling/recording

Can anyone recommend any dirt cheap bass's just for me to play around on for some basic recording?!?

    http://www.musicyo.com/product_specs.asp?pf_id=357

thats the cheapest I have found. Id imagine its bottom of the barrel, but do ya think it would function ok for my basic needs? OR am I better off buying used and spending some mroe $$$.

I really dont feel like spending more then 199$

There are lots of versions of the Jazz and Precision basses at this same price point. Rondo (www.rondomusic.net) has a few more variations than MusicYo.
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

You can pick up used great basses all day long for very little money. Find a US made PV Foundation, and its about that price, and its way better..............Hell, you should be able to find Kramer American Series basses at that price point. Why bother with the cheapest Yos?..........

I just picked up a sqier MB-4. MF has them for like 179, and they are pretty nice. Also see if you can find an old Ibanez EX series bass. I have one of those and as soon as I figure out its electronic gremlins, it is a really nice playing bass. I picked that up used a few years back for under 200. I was also playing a Yamaha BB 404? that was real nice-it was also around 200 used.

Id get an sx off ebay before I get the kramer. At least the sx is solid wood as opposed to plywood like the yo kramer.

I have a Rouge LX-400pro, that I paid $189 for. It has an onboard preamp. I really like it and it's easy to play. Sounds pretty good as well. The prices on these things fluctuate alot. They work great for recording!

Cort has some real nice basses. Also if you look used look for old Guild Pilot basses, or ESP M-IVs. I just picked up an M-V Jazz...5string Jazz with EMGs for $220 and a M-IV fretless (like on chrisguitars...but mine is mint) also with EMGS for $220. These were high end ESPs. I found a 5 string USA BC Rich for around $280. It has a Bartoline soapbar that costs about $130 itself and bartolini active eq. Deals are out there. These basses will smoke any $200 new bass you can find.
