I was in there the other day and there was this les paul. It had what looked to be a maple fretboard. it was some other wood that looked like maple thoug. it was like a les paul classic or standard. but it had like a red kind of flame top. nothing too fancy and like an orangish binding. it was a pretty cool looking les paul. and the non-rosewood or ebony fretboard was neat too. I asked a friend that works there and he said it is one of a kind. I thought that was pretty cool. Its like $3 grand though. But thats Gibson for ya. I just thought it was cool to see a les paul with a light fretboard like that other than the zakk camo bullseye.

no this looked like maple. I wish I could just remember what kind of wood it was. It looked just like the zakk wylde camo bullseye but a little more figured. also i think they said it was a '59 reissue.

maybe it was pau ferro (sp?) that kind of looks like a faded rosewood-not nearly as light as maple. I believe it was used on the older SRV strats as well.

The older SRV's had Brazillian Rosewood fretboards. They had reddish streaks in them. When Brazillian Rosewood went on the endangered species list they switched to Pao-Ferro.

It might be one of those Smartwood Exotics - where they used non-endangered - but usually more expensive - woods instead of rosewood, mahogany, and maple.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Re: One of a kind les paul at local shop
He said it was one of a kind 59 reissue type thing. Ill go by and ask them again exactly what it is. It was pretty cool though. Ive never seen anything like it. Even the red kind of flamed top I havent seen on a les paul. Just thought it was cool. My local shop actually gets some pretty cool stuff in every once and a while. One guy ordered a Rhoads like the limited, didnt get to see it though. They have had 2-3 Zakk bullseyes and 1 camo bullseye. They've also had a pretty cool Washburn like Dimes, it was diamond plated and had ebony fretboard. Also the owner has gotten a custom made PRS and Les Paul that were drop dead amazing. That PRS was the nicest PRS Ive ever seen. It had to be like a 10 AAAA top or something. lol. Even the neck was tiger striped. the bird inlays were like pearl and had gold etched around them. The Les Paul was pretty crazy too. They were both like $8-10K guitars. But they never stock Jacksons so I miss out on those. The only Jacksons that show up there are either ones Im selling or that Ive bought. lol
