Paddok...where do you see '76 reissues for $500??
And if so...turn me onto one bro!...I'm looking for one!

$850 is the "going rate" as far as these are concerned. That is a fair price, so long as it's in great condition.
The color of them seems to dictate the price a lot of times. The black ones being the most abundant ones out there, and White and Cherry are the least.
As it is...Gibson upcharges $150.00 for white as an option!

'76 Reissue Explorers are awesome man! I've owned about dozen of them over the years! And as I said above...I'm currently in the market for one right now.

The last black one I had, I sold to John for $700. I believe he was happy with it. I say 750 for black and 800-850 for white is fair.(in excellent condition)

Explorer is my favorite body shape with the RR in strong contention. I always got my eyes open for Explorers when I hit the stores looking for used guitars.

you know, the new ones are going for 999.99 now.....they MUST be shit piles, I would say 800.00 in white would be my price, for a great one.

If its a 2001, be carefiul. Musicians fiend blew some NOS out for $750 last year, I believe. Personally, I wouldnt pay more than that for an excellent one, unless it was a custom shop, obviously.

See if you can find one of the Gothic Explorers (if you aren't picky as far as finish). I had one a while back and it was as played as well as the other "styles" but are at a lower price point.

I have seen two used ones recently-a black one in good shape for 599-at a mom and pop store (but a gibson dealer) and a Cherry one in super bad shape-beat to hell if you ask me-for 599 at GC. 800 seems really high since you can get a brand new one for a grand.

I would never pay over $500 for a used Explorer in any color, there are tons of them out there. Be patient and get a minty one for $500. Good luck bro-Jack.

My thoughts to 5-600- Myself if I was spending 750- 800 I would pick up an E2- Personally I like the 80's ones with the dirty fingers and an ebony board.
