Don't tell me what CNC means ..dude I do this for a living and it's literally 5 minutes worth of work to add that to the program .... I KNOW what CNC and CAD/CAM is ..
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

Then I take it Greg that no one took over making custom shop Deans after Ben left.
I say this because the floating fat man Ed R. and Dean screwed up on my hardtail they offered to make me a Z with a floyd on it although they said it would be difficult it could be done.

Get off your high horse. Nobody is telling you what the fuk CNC is, just telling you what Dean says about building USA guitars with a Floyd. That's their excuse, if you don't like it tell Dean and get the fuk off my case.

The company that makes the Hardtails is in Northern California. That company is different from who makes the rest of the USA stuff.

Well then, if US Masters makes them, US Masters also offers Floyds on their guitars, so Dean can have them made with Floyds, no problem at all. I don`t beleive Dean can`t. Jack.

I'm sorry.. I don't intend to be on your case .. my point is that I understand what it takes to add that in and it isn't as big a deal as your being told...

Re: Dean USA\'s - Why no Floyd\'s ?

Guys, WTF? CNC, blah, blah, blah. Let's suspend disbelief and pretend a modern manufacturing firm capable of making a guitar can't cut a hole for a Floyd Rose.

Ok.

Now given that, is there nobody in the Dean organization that has ever seen Bob Villa? Go down to Sears and buy a fuckin' router. Stew Mac sells the template. Does Dean need a link or something?

I guess there's a fine line between won't and can't.

I think you nailed it right there.

Yes, the last "Ben" shop was in Florida, when "Tropical Music" owned the Dean name, before Elliot Rubinson bought the Dean name out and brought back Dean Zelinsky. It's a whole different organization now.

Thanks Greg, I know you and I have a fondness for the Deans and we have talked about them before.
I just wanted to make sure I had my info correct.
Did I tell you about the time Elliot offered me one of his 2 original 79' lefty Z's and I was too much of a dumbass to take him up on his offer?
Now there is a story!

Re: Dean USA\'s - Why no Floyd\'s ?

i got the chance to play some 2002 USA deans. at mannys i thionk one of the nyc music stores has a few. to me its like new usa BCR nice guitar BUT overpriced & not like the old ones. all 3 the ML, V & Z i tried were featherite , lighter than an SG. they didnt have the same feel either. its hard to explain like comparing a new schecter setneck to a old SG. it feels more rigid almost, but not in a good way. all 3 sounded great & played real nice all 3 had a rounded neck profile NOT the V neck.

& if anybody wants i know where there is an early PAF Dean Z. all mahogany neck binding only, the guy wants alot for it tho....or it would have been mine already.

Lordofgain...... you want stories...... get this one! Ask Dean Zelinsky about the time some youngster from LA named Randy Rhoads called him up to make him a guitar before he went out on tour. Dean blew off Randy's call because he didn't know who he was. Of course, none of us knew who he was back then.

Manny's prices on the Dean's are kinda high compared to some other dealers, but that's probably cause their owned by SamAsh and looking to make more of a profit. I really do like the feel of em, the hardtail especially. One of these days...
