Re: Dean USA\'s - Why no Floyd\'s ?

Those are more of less made to order kinda thing (I think). Kinda like USA Jacksons. If you go on the Dean site and go to the guitar finder any dealers that have it in stock will drop ya an e-mail or call ya.

Lordofgain...... you want stories...... get this one! Ask Dean Zelinsky about the time some youngster from LA named Randy Rhoads called him up to make him a guitar before he went out on tour. Dean blew off Randy's call because he didn't know who he was. Of course, none of us knew who he was back then.

Ok that one is WAAAAY better than mine. I guess Dean Z. is a bigger dombass than me. I feel better now thanks!

Yes, I blieve the proper word is "Won`t" in Dean`s case of putting Floyd`s on their USA guitars. Big mistake in my book. Jack.

Let's see... blew off Randy Rhoads... says he left the biz because he didn't like putting Floyds on guitars... ... and now his biggest (posthumous) endorsee played Floyded guitars, yet he still won't make Floyded USA versions... this company needs ! How much more can you plan to lose? Unless the real idea is that they don't want to sell USA models because it costs them a lot, basing a business decision on personal opinion is kinda nuts.I wonder if you can order a USA Dean and then contact US Masters to put a Floyd on it before it leaves the factory? Or if Dean will go so far as to thwart you getting a Floyd put on it? In view of those crapola Kahler knockoffs the late 80s Deans had, whose frames bent under spring presure, it's really dumb that they won't put a quality trem on their guitars.

              Re: Dean USA\'s - Why no Floyd\'s ?

So Dean doesn't make their own USA guitars?? WTF???

And this company that they contract to do the work can't do Floyds because CNC is too hard to program??

But Dean *does* have a USA Custom shop where you CAN get a Floyd I'm assuming....right??

Now I know why their guitar line is so f*cked up. You either get the el-cheapo import model or some Time-Capsule one-in-a-million-signed flametop thing....there's really no in-between. And the prices follow accordingly. I never understood their product line....but I like the looks of their guitars.

I really like how Jackson does it...their prices are just right IMO and they have pretty much enough models to pick any kind of level of guitar you want and most importantly the color you want too!!

And the whole CNC thing is BS....they can program a friggin floyd route in there...they just won't do it. This isn't rocket science for god's sake. You program it once and do it and then you got the ability to make floyds longterm....that would open the door for more customers IMO...who wouldn't want that??

That being said Dean's imports are top notch...

I wish i would have kept my 70's Dean Z model, probably could have gotten a fortune for it (white faded to blonde, all gold hardware with black binding on it), that guitar SMOKED!!!

I agree the company is a little narrow on what it offers, but now that these new Dime guitars are coming out, they are gonna make some really big $. I was a little pissed when someone above said Dean resented Dime in an interview for putting floyds on the early Deans, and now he put him on a pedastal, but this is strictly business I guess and it does open up the line a little more. Not too much more, but a little more. I really do think the masses want floyds on some guitars, and it should be somewhat of an option. Not having em cause Dean dosen't like em is a little Whatever I guess...I'm not gonna try n figure these companies out.
