EPI goth les paul?

I want a evil looking/sounding lester and this $450 one has the look,


but is it a good guitar overall?
or am i better off with the $700 les paul studio elitist

I find the std EPIs very hit or miss. The Fuji-Gen-Gakki made Elits are most likely a safe bet, but I have heard that the Studios never really came out in the US. There is also the rumer that Fuji-Gen is getting out of the guitar business in Jan. 2006, so the Elites may be no more after that. At those prices though I would go for a Gibson. Two years ago I got a mint condition returned/blem black LP studio with the original case from MF for $599. I'd hold out for something like that...

P.S. eventhough the Studios on paper are pretty much the same guitar as a Std. I have never, in all my years, found a Studio that played nearly as good as a decent Std. Something to ponder IMO.
