Re: Used Guitar Websites

Yep, the guy who phones and is ready to give his cc# is always gonna beat the email tire kickers. You may not be a tire kicker but a
businessman who gets hundreds of emails a day,
and 20 phone calls from people who're spending
money, will deal with phone customers first. You have to go on the assumption that you're not the only one interested in that guitar. If you seriously want it, call and make the deal. Of course, if the guy sells a guitar and that night sees 20 emails about it, well he's not gonna have time to email all of you to tell you it's gone. If you don't get an email reply, that's your cue that it's gone.

Re: Used Guitar Websites

If he'd rather you call when serious about purchasing, this needs to be taken down from the main page of his website:

"Email Me: (email address in extra-large, bold font)

Email preferred and required on all deals but if you need to call: (phone number)"

Re: Used Guitar Websites

Well, Chris is constantly writing on his page about being behind on emails... that's a big clue for me to call if something is really burning a hole in my pocket. Every now and then he gets kinda hyberbole-crazed, but overall he has some great stuff at a decent price. Heck, I thought I was the only person on this board who knew about that page! Now to take it back to where Fritz started... where else do you guys look for used guitars? I have used elderly.com before (bought my vetta from them) and can't really think of many other places that have good pics and info on the gear. Most used gear places have one line descriptions like "jackson, black, like new, case, $1200".

I'd say, all these classifieds section of harmony and gearpage.
Also Many forums have classifieds section you usually find killer stuff but only if you can trust people you will deal with.
I found some great stuff on Jemsite and also kramer forum.

New Jackson's are the same way unless you are insane enough to pay MAP.

Re: Used Guitar Websites

I can certainly understand that for NEW guitars. But not used geetars. I prefer to deal with shops like Chris that post fair prices, even if they don't have any room to move.

I have dealt with Parkway, Juniors and Atomic and have been happy with all of the transactions there. With Atomic, if you buy something there and decide to trade it back to them, they will give you 70% of what you originally paid (in trade credit).

Re: Used Guitar Websites

Chris is a nice guy and so is JC. Believe me, if you tell either of them you want a guitar, they'll sell it to you over the phone. Forfet the e-mails. If you really want it call 'em !

I've been really happy with McKenzie River Music, http://www.mckenzierivermusic.com The shop tends toward the vintage and the like (not so many Jacksons, etc.) but they price fairly and the condition is accurate. They are light on description but this is also a place where it is very fun to talk to the owner because he has been in the business so long and is really knowledgeable.

Wow, the website's kinda hard to navigate. It's not really browser friendly. The poor guy! In case he's interested, tell him he's got a beginning web developer that's interested. Yes, I do have experience, but I wouldn't call myself a professional! Hell, I'd do it for free to build some more on the resume, but also to help out a fellow guitar freak.
