Drool factor of 10, NOTP. BTW, your next tutorial should be on quality picture taking. Seriously. You take some amazing shots and I'm sure numerous members, including myself, would benefit from your expertise. Just a thought.

Wow that looks great!
I think I've got to take the pick guard off of my Ibanez Lawsuit Les Paul and put speed knobs on mine too!
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Re: More pics of my LPC!

Hey kmanick, definitely do that, and then snap some pics! I remember the very first time I heard of a lawsuit Les Paul was actually an Ibanez one when I first started out playing guitar. I had Les Paul GAS ever since then! Went off LP-style guitars to pursue superstrats and other rock/metal guitars until I got the LP bug again!

I'm really diggin' the satin black finish now! I had always preferred gloss black but I'd like to think I'm diversifying a little bit!

Stuka, you're still mistaking me for Toejam. Are my photos THAT bad? Just kidding!

Hmm, yeah, definitely a basic photo tutorial might be in the works! There are quite a few JCFers here with a lot of photography know-how so they can chime in as well. Then I expect a LOT of cool pictures of cool guitars to be posted thereafter by everybody. I'll start working on some stuff today!

Thanks for the comments about my pictures. I remember my first "good" pictures taken of my Shannon Soloist exactly one year ago when I first got that guitar... man, those sucked! What the hell was I thinking? I spent like ten minutes taking those pictures compared to the whole hour and a half spent snapping pics of this Les Paul! I learned a LOT with sheer experience, so hopefully my crash course tutorial topic can save you guys a lot of hassle and time.

Re: More pics of my LPC!

Priest, great pics for sure. That thing looks sweet!!

[ QUOTE ]
The guitar slips slightly out of tune after a little while, which is an issue to me, a dedicated Floyd Rose abuser who does a LOT of heavy string bends and aggressive picking-hand technique. Any hints, besides graphite in the nut slots?

[/ QUOTE ]

A quick DIY tip that I've heard may remedy this is to use a little chapstick between the strings and the nut...just to lube it up a bit...yes, I said chapstick.

Re: More pics of my LPC!

Okay, strangely enough, the guitar doesn't slip out of tune anymore until after I do a few songs aggressively. But I definitely have chapstick ready just in case.

Thanks for the compliments! Anything in particular you guys want me to cover specifically in my upcoming photo tutorial topic? I'm starting to piece it together first in a Microsoft Word document, and then I'll paste its contents into a new forum topic when it's done.

I think you spoke briefly in a thread some time ago about zoom - when to use it, when not to. That sort of thing. I think you said proper use of zoom and a tripod were the keys to getting super crisp close-ups.

Re: More pics of my LPC!

A tripod definitely helps when doing long exposure shots especially in low-light conditions. Hell, the pictures I posted above were done in less-than-optimal light conditions, a small bedroom with the curtains closed (except for the first overhead picture)! That tripod was the best damn photo accessory I've ever bought, especially for a lazy ass like me who doesn't like to take his guitars outside in the frigid Canadian winter to photograph under daylight conditions.

I'll probably talk about basic things like focus, lighting, backgrounds, zoom, flash, tripods, white balance, ISO, pixels/resolution, and exposure. Perhaps maybe a little bit also about post-image editing with graphics/camera software just to fine-tweak digital photos. That should cover a vast enough range to help out the folks who want to take time to read my topic, follow its general guidelines, and learn how to optimize their shooting situations with what equipment they have, while staying within my experience so that I don't have to bullcrap anything to anybody.
