Re: My GMW experience,

I am sorry to hear this Gene.
My experience with Lee has been always great.
So I can't imagine what you have been going through.
It would be always harder to discuss details with someone just by e-mails or phone.
I used to go to his shop with the guitars I want him to work on and describe him how I want this and that.
It was the best thing because Lee would do it right in front of me so I know what's going on..

Did you try to talk with him when you first fund the problem with the neck?
Or it was much later after you took your guitar to other repair guys?

Anyway, good luck!

Re: My GMW experience,

All I can say is WOW! I talke dto Lee just two days ago about sending one of my Jacksons to him to have Lordofgainified which would save me an awful lot of money over getting a CS Jackson.

My problem is that I don't trust Jackson anymore and was looking for an impeccable alternative which I thought Lee would be. Again I am BLOWN away by all of this.

Now I don't know what in the hell to do.

Sorry about your drama with him, that sucks not so royal butt!

damn I hope Lee comes thru on this, this may make me rethink an order I was going to place with him.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Re: My GMW experience,

The big problem is not so much that it happened, but that Lee refuses to take ownership of the problems and make it right. He belittles how much the guitar costs and decides what kind of workmanship is acceptable for that kind of guitar.

I got in touch with Lee when it became obvious the guitar couldn't be fixed locally, without someone here replacing the whole neck. Then it became worthwhile looking at sending it back. I tried to avoid that, but it wasn't possible. All the big issues ganged up on each other.

Guys...Lee does incredible work. This is an anomaly. I have invested thousands in the empire line without a hitch. Maybe you should leave the jackson stuff to jackson and let Lee do what he does best....EMPIRE!!!

You're missing the point. If he doesn't want to do this type of work and just build the 'empire' line, then he should only build empire guitars.

For what I'm about to spend on another guitar, having a custom GMW built was a possibility before I read this thread. I know Genebaby pretty well from reading his posts the last few years, and it sounds like Lee is screwing him over because of the distance more than anything.

Sorry to hear your bad luck GB... hopefully Lee and GMW will do right by you. If he wants to sell your guitar, then GMW should refund your money first and THEY take whatever losses are incurred. So far, Lee is raping you in the ass with a sandpaper condom. 60 grit at that!

Re: My GMW experience,

Ive this story before via email, and it just sickens me. There was no need to recess the trem, there are other ways of rectifying a neck angle without using any shims. I hope you get what you want in the end Gene.

Oh man I remember that guitar, didn't you wait over 18 months for it? I'm sorry for your situation. I beti if you lived locally you wouldn't be having these problems. I have had GMW do a few things for me. I have always been about 80% satisfied. It seems like it's always little things, that just get overlooked. It's been mentioned before but I don't think his operation can handle the volume of work he has now. he probably has just as much work as the Jackson CS, at some point something has to give, it being Customer service or Quality Control, who knows.
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!

Re: My GMW experience,

I waited 2 years for it initially, now it's been about 2 and a half years, and counting. Paddok is going to pick my guitar up from Lee. He still owes me return shipping, and I'm hoping he won't reneg on that when Paddok takes the guitar away.

If you want to email Lee about this, pls do, he seems to think the fretwork, nut and inlays are acceptable. His email is [email protected].

WOW!!! this whole things sucks man. very sorry to hear this. I was seriously considering GMW for my custom shop idea, but this is certainly an eye opener. I will steer clear of GMW for sure.

WOW.... this really sucks man!! I sure hope you can somehow solve this situation. I cant believe how he is treating you over this too. this is just unacceptable. I feel bad for what has heppend, but I must say thank you for sharing this with us prospective customers. This could save us all alot of BS.

well, I will cross GMW off the list of possibilities.

Guys don't discount GMW just because you hear a couple complaints. I'am willing to bet they have a 99% customer satisfaction record. Would you not buy something from an eBay seller who several thousand transactions and had 99% positive feedback?

That 1% 'bad feedback' has a lot more weight when it's someone you know. Plus stunts like offering to sell the guitar and give him the proceeds minus 10% goes beyond bad feedback imho.

In the grand scheme of things, we can all vote with our wallets. Personally, I'd avoid GMW, but they obviously have more work than they can handle.
