Guys don't discount GMW just because you hear a couple complaints. I'am willing to bet they have a 99% customer satisfaction record. Would you not buy something from an eBay seller who several thousand transactions and had 99% positive feedback?

[/ QUOTE ]

While I agree that an EBAY seller with 99% positive feedback record would certainly get my business. GMW thrives from forums such as this. This forum in particular is their exact target market and they get plenty of business from the free advertising that they have gotten here. That is why this situation is and SHOULD be so damaging to them. To literally F**K over someone from your target market in so many different ways is bullshit. I mean first, he won't accomodate the actual "custom" order, but won't admit to it so the client has to alter his dream guitar. Then he screws up pretty much every major aspect of the guitar. 3rd, it took 2 years to produce a piece of crap. 4th, he won't take responsibility for the actions, won't fix them, or refund the money..and finally BELITTLES THE COST OF A $1700 + instrument. That is absolutly disgusting. I have never had a GMW made, but I recently had plans to have 1 and possibly another that I wanted made. It will not happen now. GMW can kiss my ass for there attitude with regards to this guitar. I can understand mistakes. Shit happesn. No one is perfect. Customer service comes directly from HOW YOU HANDLE THOSE MISTAKES. If Lee doesn't want to be bothered with this guitar, then he should offer a full refund at the least. Then it would be out of his hair and he could then fix it and EBAY and make his money back.

I belong to many forums, many of which have "Forum Dealers". I know that exists here. On many of the other forums, these "Dealers" would have been banned from the forum for less than this. I for one will never use GMW for anything unless this is resolved properly. I am sickened by Lee's actions, regardless how much abnormal they are of him. He gets a lot of business both directly and indirectly because of the JCF and other forums like. This issue needs to be addressed pronto.

You hit the nail on the head. GMW got this sale due to word of mouth on this Forum. I've loved Jacksons and Charvels for years, I'm 31, I was a huge Jackson fan since the 80's. Having 15 guitars I went for the GMW this time, knowing and expecting I'd be getting a quality instrument. Yes, the guitar not being right is bad, but the service afterwards is what makes it a truly terrible experience.

Re: My GMW experience,

Well, whatever you decide to do, IMO you should get the guitar back before anything else and make your choices and choose your battles with care from that point.

You're not going to have anything if you don't still possess it as part of the proof except sour grapes.

However, consider also you've already agreed to a recessed floyd and the other Lee suggested corrections/mods. I'm not sure what or where those would play into the whole senario in retropsect of what you wanted as a custom guitar because it could be construed as 'customer ok'd this modification as a resolution to complaint' type of deal.

However, from the sounds of it, this could snowball into a huge sh!tstorm in no time and you have to consider the consequences of that as well.
While I have not seen ya being slanderous here ..rather, you've just aired your grievence without much anger and moreso along the lines of factual remorse. When it starts getting ugly, we've seen the result of what that kind of thing does given the past experiences on the board especially if the accused starts stepping in.

I did agree to the recessed FLoyd, as long as it looks great, something I know Lee can do, which is why I was ok with it. Also, I've stated on the board before, I don't mind Floyds recessed or not, my fave guitar has a recessed Floyd, I just chose non-recessed for the old school style on this one. The recess is a moot point, it's done, I'm cool with it (as long as it looks factory, Lee said he would make it like it was always recessed), it's the neck I'm worried about.

I dont' think it will get into a heated, ugly thing, not from my end anyway. It's hard to explain but the two year wait was a killer, I could NOT wait to get that guitar, as lots of you guys know, but this is all happening in Bullet Time for me and this guitar, if that makes sense. Having it here with issues is no good to me, so how long it takes to fix is how long it takes.

Lee has links to this thread, and my first one about the Nut, he did not respond at all to them in his next email so I'm not sure if he cared to look. He is welcome to jump in and have his say.

In regards to a refund, I did ask about that and there is no refund being offered, it's not an option. The Ebay thing is off the table too, as Paddok is picking the guitar up for safekeeping for now. When I feel it's time, I'll get it back to Lee so he can return it to me, hopefully with it's new neck.

Re: My GMW experience,

Does he have a JCF ID?
Even you sent him links, if he can't log in, he can't read them, no?
I know Dan has his ID though.
Also I think he doesn't have internet access at his shop.
I could be wrong since my last visit was 2years ago but most of his e-mail replies come early morning or after business hour.
So maybe he is using PC at home..

Well, I figure if he can get his emails, he can access the web, and surely he would get himself an ID to see what's happening. I think he may have had an ID on the old board, but I can't rememember for sure.

Too true, but I can't afford to keep sending this back. When it comes back, it has to be for the last time.

I think we should continue to bump this thread and keep it alive, so Lee knows that his actions do have consequences. I truly feel for Vic. I wish there was something more we could do as a group.

I tried editing my last post, but it was too late. Anyway, it should have read, stop patronizing GMW until this situation is rectified. Anyway, I just sent off an email to someone I know that is in the process of placing an order with Lee. His guitar is way more complicated than the one here and I thought he should know. It would be great if there was a way that we could put this thread, or at least the text from it into a Word file or a pdf. If we had one, I would have attached it to the email.

Wow Gene, this is unbelievably horrid news! I have always heard how gruff and unpersonable Lee was, but also that his shops work was absolutely the best. I have been thinking of sending one of my axes to him for a fretjob/refinish lately, but won't do it now. It just isn't worth it to me to 1) Take chances on some shoddy work on one of my favorite guiatrs, or 2) patronize a shop that has screwed over a fellow JCFer. It's the only really effective way I can show support for you and let Lee know his actions DO have repercussions. I know the loss of my job, or even the loss of the custom I was thinking of having him do won't cause him that much financial strain, but at least its a clear message. Especially when I e-mail him and let him know that it was the way he treated you that changed my mind. I really hope he makes this right for you Gene. Be cool bro...

Last year I received my Soloist restored by Lee and Dan. It came out beautiful. Yes, I could have nit picked it, but overall it was quite impressive work. Last week the original owner received the guitar (he bought it back from me) and he commented the guitar actually looked better than it did new on the rack back in '86. Because of that, I will continue to use GMW for such work. Maybe I am setting myself up for disappointment, but I am willing to take that chance. That is my experience and I just felt like sharing it.
