Re: What would you do.....I think I found my LPC

That low E tuner would have me nervous. You have to wonder that if the tuner was put on crooked on a wicked expensive guitar, what else was messed up. I also don't like the term "dents" on the back of the neck. Just my .02. Be careful.

I know and the p'ups have been switched out as well. For 1550 or maybe a little more it's worth the issues being what it is. THe one thing that gets me the most is the low feedback. I'm wathching, but we'll see. I won't do anything if he's not willing to take a few more pics. I don't think thats asking too much on a high priced guitar.

It isn't asking too much, and he may be a great guy, but I find his answers a bit terse if not evasive. This isn't a twenty dollar part we're talking about: I expect a little more courtesy from someone before I would want to deal with them.

But that is just me. And it isn't The One for me, so if it was I know I'd be willing to put up with a lot of B.S. to get what I wanted.

Good luck, bro -

And for being american he spells Color wrong...sheesh let us Canadians and Brits have colour! :P

anyhow, I don't understand what is so special about this? isn't this just a les paul custom? and how is it "trans" it looks solid to me, maybe I'm just an ignorant s1ut!

Keith is right. For that kind of money and the fact that the seller has a low feedback rating, he should be bending over backwards to accomodate potential buyers. He should have already flooded you with pics and had a few conversations on the telephone.

This is actually why I wanted better pics! The trans white limited colours was a very subtle finish. from a distance it just looks like alpine white, but up close, you can see the grain of the maple top. It's not figured at all, just clean maple. Why is that so special? It's not really. I just bought one brand new in 90 and regret selling it. It's really only special to my I guess.

"I got a can of off white Rustoleum. You want me to spray one of my black Customs?"

How can I resist another one of Marks "specials" You'd better watch out. Newc can compete with that. Although he'd go with Krylon!

I tell you, the only thing bothering me about this deal is that the guy has been terse like Keith said. And John hit it on the head. With one feedback, this guy should be falling over anyone who is interested. I have the current high bid at 1550 wich is my max. for that, I'll take it, but I'm not going any higher.

I like the red one on there right now and have always thought that I would jump at the chance for a red one, but for some reason, I'm holdin out for that perfect wine red or Alpine white one. Oh yeah, or another limited colours trans white one! I've get better odds at the lottery than hittin another one of those again.

Sadly, he won't add my latest question to his auction, I'll bet.

So because you can't see it, here it is, with the response.

Dear kupson,

You asked:
"The tuners look off, bro. I'll be blunt: even though you've answered that "[t]he tuners are in exactly the same position as any other Les Paul," I don't think any reasonable buyer is going to take your word for it. I won't. So let me make sure that I understand you correctly: you refuse to take or provide any additional photographs of an $1,800 - $2,000 guitar, and you don't have any ebay feedback? [Well, other than that one. That does count for something. Not $1,800 worth, but something.] That about sum it up?"

Answer:
Whatever makes you happy.

Be afraid... be very afraid. I wouldn't buy it bro. Keep looking. All the signs are there. Crappy pics, crummy description, crummy answers, obvious flaws, changed parts, low feedback. The only thing that this auction is missing is a pic of a fratboy holding the guitar with a beer in his other hand.

I retracted my bid. That was even before I read Kieth's post above. What did it for me was that I e-mail him (only through eBay) asking him to call me or if I could call him. I expressed my concern and told him that I would feel more comfortable talking with him in person. This was his reply.......

"Sorry Jim Ebay does not like chat outside their system."

SCREW YOU PAL! It's too bad. I'd love to get another one like I had, but it's not worth the risk here. Thank you all for your help on this one. I feel like I've been talked down off of a ledge!

The search goes on!

Might have worked out perfectly, but he was starting to sound like a jerk. I know that my "question" to him was over the top and rude, but I thought I'd play bad cop and see if he coughed up any more pics.

Screw it. She's out there, somewhere, waiting for you, bro.
