Possibly to help balance out the tone from that solid flamed maple body. Appearance-wise, yeah I'd probably prefer maple. That'd work well if it were only a maple top. But ultimately, I know I'd prefer rosewood with that body.Comment

I would think that if you ordered that guitar from GMW it would only have about a $1500 price tag on it. I might be a little off, but The price that he is asking is way high. I dont care whos collection it is from or who played it. IMO I wouldnt pay more than $1300 for it.Comment

How do you know it is a jem then? Perhaps it plays like crap with bad frets and a poor nut. I don't understand when people do that. I don't care who you are. Don't tell me how great a guitar is and then follow it up with it has never been played or touched. There is a reason that many old beat up vintage guitars sound and play better than mint ones. In many cases the mint ones sucked and were stuck under the owners bed for 50 yrs. The beat up ones were once mint, but they were great and thus played so much they got beat up.Comment

I have a blue solid quilt maple body with an ebony neck, one hum and a vintage trem coming soon from GMW. It cost $1720. So knock off $100 upcharge for the v trem and that guitar would be $1620 with case.Comment

Yea Monte but you also have to consider what grade quilt did you get. Thats a nice guitar and has a decent top but its not a $1700 guitar. I have priced out a few with lee and im talking 4 and 5a tops that are $1650 to $1700 brand new. Not a decent flame top single hum guitar like that one.Comment

Nice axe, though pricey, and I too would want ebony or maple fretboard + a contoured heel. Couldn't you tone down the brightness with pickup selection, e.g., a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom, a DiMarzio Tone Zone, or an EMG 85 (other than EQ'ing down the line)?Comment
