Re: ESP Kami
The current price list shows Kami I, II, III for $2599:
ESP Price List
$1950 would be the store selling for 75% of suggested retail pricing (kinda the 'norm' % off). I believe I've seen a guy on ebay selling new for around $1750, which is around 67% of list price, (I checked ebay completed auctions, but he hasn't listed for a while). I think the lowest I've gotten a dealer to sell a guitar was for around 65% off retail, which would be $1700 on a Kami if you could get a dealer to do that. It would depend on when the dealer bought it, i.e., a few years ago the retail was closer to $2000, so the dealer price would've been lower when he bought it.
Let us know what pricing you get, especially from the Amp Shop dealer. When he had his earlier store about 6 years ago, I got a Kami II for $1200...basically a little more than dealer price (I was also lucky years ago to get a used/mint III for $1100 from internet and a used/mint IV for $1175 (at a Guitar Center no less!).
On ebay, used II, III, IV versions appear in the range of $1200 to $1400 (nothing there now though), and for some reason most of these seem to be in minty shape for a used guitar. The Kami I's go for $800 to $1100, but seem to be more beat up.

Re: ESP Kami
I just pulled out my 1990 Kami this morning. I had forgotten what a nice guitar this is... the sound out of the maple body is exquisite. I recommend pulling the Duncan Demon and dropping in a Duncan Distortion. That was the pickup that originally came in the guitar when they first became production models. The demon seems better suited for alder bodied guitars (like the ESP Skulls & Snakes model). My two cents.

Re: ESP Kami
Markus - That´s an OFR on your Kami, right? Does anyone know when they did the switch from the crappy ESP Floyd to OFR´s? I found a Kami locally, with the ESP Floyd, and the seller thought it was an early ´90s model...but apparently he might be wrong.

Re: ESP Kami
try www.musiciansfriend.com
i bought my kami from them a few years ago. definitely try one out before you buy it...it takes a little getting used to as the body weighs a ton and the nut width is 1 3/4".
