They are awesome guitars. I usually like a little shallower scallop though.

      Re: Malmsteen strats

I have one that is a parts mutt (YJM neck stuck to a MIJ or MIM strat body), and I installed the HS-3 myself. When I frist got it, it took me about 30 seconds to get used to neck. I guess being used to the feel of jumbo frets help, and the fact that I play with a light touch anyway.

I am so used to switching back and forth between all my 18 guitars now, that fretboard radius, scalloped/non-scalloped, neck profiles...etc. make very little difference to me (I have medium sized hands, if that matters). Really, if you are concerned about the switching problem, all it takes is just some time to get used to it.

IF you like the sound of the YJM strat, get it. You can always unload one here or on eBay (with very little depreciation) if you really can't get used to the switching thing.

About the pickups being very quiet... they are very low output pickups, and are not designed to push the front end of an amp into overdrive. They are designed to be used to provide some clarity and sweetness to a rig that already has a very distorted sound.
