Re: Les Paul Floyd

Tucker is located in Brattleboro, VT, about 1 hour West of me. He charged me $250 for the Floyd install, I provided all of the hardware. It seemed a bit steep, but upon retrospect of all the work involved, I think that I got off cheap. MHGoldtop (Mike) believes that if I had this work done in NYC or by a more well known luthier, it would have been about 3x as much, makes sense to me. Here is the full frontal pic:

I don't know what the hell is wrong with the pics, they are slower than death to load, and I can't get that last one to work. If anybody can help out, give me a shout, and I will email the pics over to you. Thanks.

Jeff, you're using bitmap images (.bmp extensions). You should convert them to ".jpg" extensions as they won't take as long to load.

Re: Les Paul Floyd

I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering.

I read the LPF, and they always talk about how great the tone of a LP is, but they bash a LP with a floyd. How do you compare the tone from the original bridge to the floyd rose?

Reason I'm asking is because from what I read, it ruins the LP. So do you think it ruins it? Or just make it different?

What locking nut size did you have to install with the floyd?

Re: Les Paul Floyd

i also wondered something also,

neil always says how Gibson has to custom make his pauls with a special neck angle, for the Floyd... If he needs a special angle, how is it that yours could accomadate the Floyd, without that special angle pitch? sorry if this is a dumb question!

just wondering, thats an amazing axe, bro!

Re: Les Paul Floyd

Neil's trems are recessed like on a Jackson USA Select guitar. Jeff's isn't, it's butted down.
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

now that the guinea pig has proven success, my 54 historic oxblood is hitting the bridgeport next at tucker's....i have been denying myself a Floyd on a Les Paul for years with the excuse that i have 20 other guitars with Floyd's...that thing came out great!

I'm still not totally sold on having anything other than the stop tail on a Les Paul...

After you've played it for a while, could you let me know if it was worth it? I may try that someday.

Re: Les Paul Floyd

As far as tone, my Les Paul Custom Lite w/factory floyd sounds better than my Voodoo or Studio Swamp Ash, so I don't feel anything was 'lost' by having the floyd.

Metalcop...your luthier did a great job...looks killer and looks factory...here's some pics of mine to compare:
