    Re: Highway 1 Fenders?

I bought an H1 strat back when they came out, and it was an entirely decent guitar. Played it just as much as my Lentz, Fender CS and various other high end strats. Wasn't a huge fan of the tuners or the saddles, but those were my only big gripes. Sounded & played great.

I should confess, however, I've since changed out every single part on it. The only original part is the body. Now, this guitar certainly didn't NEED all that, but I had fun putting it together. Not a cost effective course of action. :P

I've played plugged and unplugged. I see em as a glorified MIM Standard Strat. The only big diferences are 22 frets and nicer pickups. I like the MIM Standard Strats the best out of all the Fenders. I have owned several. I have never owned a US Fender, but I have played several. I figure for the price you get one hell of a guitar in the MIM line than you do in the US line. As far as a Floyded 22 fret Strat neck Newc, good luck finding one. I was looking around year before last and e-mailed a few places. All I would get out of anybody was, "Warmouth can build ya one". I had a Warren Di Martini project I wanted to do and had everything but the neck. I found a window sticker at a Checker Auto Parts store that was a skull and crossbones almost identical to Warren's. I had the paint and tools to do the body and had a trade setup for a Duncan Distortion. I ended up loosing interest when I couldn't find a neck and then sold the Model 2 I had to finance something I was in need of equipment wise. Bummer. I know I could have went Warmouth and it would have been in the neighborhood of $300 total for a neck with a Floyd nut, but at that time I think they were still doing the adjustment at the heel thing. I think soon after they came out with the adjustment at the headstock. I wanted a Fender neck in order to have the adjustment at the head and no hassle. I also love the modified C shape on those necks.

I have checked out a few Highway 1 strats and thought they were nice. Musicians Friend was blowing them out a few months back for real cheap.

I think I would search for a MIM 1st as they are almost as good for le$$. I'll agree with the JV opinions. That guitar was really nice for a MIM.

Ha ha... you don't realize how much you use the 22nd fret until you go for it on a 21 fretter and miss.

They have always seemed pretty mediocre to me. If you got one for a great deal it might be worth it, otherwise I would pass.
