  • TYLER geetars anyone???

c'mon, there's got to be some tyler fans on here...they are the best of the superstrats, IMHO...anyone else own one, or feel the same way?

I assume you own one. What are the specs?

I don't own a Tyler but I do own a Suhr. Suhr seemed to do a lot more Floyd type super strats and he was willing to match neck specs I had for very little up charge.

The Tyler gets rave reviews though. If I was looking for a standard trem strat Tyler would be on the list of guitars to check out.

i had two last year....a psych vomit studio elite with the mamywo body, and a classic strat style with swamp ash body, buth were quite literally the bext bolt on neck super strats i have ever owned, including all of my old san dimas stuff...with the possible exception of the jeff beck HRF guitar, and some of the old strathead SD charvels i played back in 1982....

        Nice...

You say you "had" two last year. What happened? Did you like one over the other? I'm curious about the different wood types.

A local store here has Tylers and Suhrs. I like Grosh's better than either but I'd take a Suhr over a Tyler by considerable margin. The workmanship on the Tylers was inconsistent. Then you factor in those awful looking headstocks.

yes, the headstock is UGLY...no doubt about it!

the mamywo on the studio elite was very similar the basswood, had a good sort of studio compressed sound, great maple neck...

the swamp ash classic was AMAZING...shouldn't have sold that one...deep deep tone for days, even using .009s!

i've found the necks to be the best i have ever played, and the only thing that reminds me of what a 1982 strat head charvel was like to me...not that the two guitars are exact, but that general "vibe" of craftsmanship and comfort and playability...

i'm sure they are inconsistent, because they are all handmade...and they can get pretty cranky at times. i like jim a lot though...

i just was recently struck by the fact that the two super strats i love the most in the world are early 80's strathead charvels and tylers.....

indoor storm anyone? i used to go to reliable music in charlotte back when i was a puppy. they actualy ordered quite a few charvel jacksons back in the day...

had a grosh, good strat style guitar, very nice workmanship, got bored with it though...

like suhr....may get one of those. i haven't owned one yet, but have my eye on a good deal on one right now.

just can't seem to find a tyler under $2K or more even used!
mine sold for $2300 and $2400 when they sold...tylers seem to hold their value as good as anything i have seen guitar wise.

Funny you mention them, that's where I got my Suhr from. I have sadly been considering selling my Suhr. It's a great guitar; it just didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped.

I posted my opinion in your other thread you posted earlier.
Suhr is the best for me.
I had maybe 6-7 of them and loved them all.

Tyler, I have owned 6 of them and I didn't like them all.
I had a custom order Studio Elite, Vomit color Studio with 3 singles, Dann Huff model, Classic, 2 more studio elites(early ones) and Tyler customized Fender.
The best one was the Tyler Customized Fender Strat it had 22fret and Floyd Added, all the push.boost options were added as well.
It was a GREAT guitar but then the body and neck were not Tyler.
                        They were Fender.

I think you mixed with James Tyler and Jim Tyler.
