• Epiphone Lucille?

I know, Epiphoney, but still, they can do the Sheraton, Casino, Emperor, and Joe Pass properly, so how good is the "Lucille"? I know it's not gonna be the same one BB uses, but how would it compare to an Agile or other import?

I may be of no help here but I played a Sheraton once and was in amazement that it was an import guitar. It's possible it was just a fluke, but damn it was nice.

Speaking of Agile, I'm making a trip to Rondo on Monday. I'll finally be able to check the Agile guitars everyone is raving about.

The Agile's are good, but there may be a few small details such as one or two frets out of whack (filed too short, maybe loose, etc) but I haven't read anything about bad wood or joints.
I've got a GoldTop 2500H (Humbuckers) that has one fret that needs replacing (too short) and the nut's a bit tall, but it's no biggie - I may set it up for slide anyway.

And Epiphone have always made 3 models better than any of their others - the Sheraton, Casino, and Emperor. Joe Pass had an Emperor Deluxe Signature model for years, of course John Lennon with his Casino, and John Lee Hooker played a Sheraton.
There's really no difference in a Sheraton and Gibson 335 as far I'm aware, other than the 335 is a "better" Sheraton, but given that the Epi Lucille would be in direct competition with the USA Gibson Lucille AND 335, I'm wondering if it's as good as a Sheraton. If it is, I might grab it (wouldn't mind a peek at the Varitone either).
But if the Sheraton is better, I might just get one of those instead.

Lucille is not a exactly like a 335 Newc. It is based on a 345 and doesn't have F-holes. There are some other differences that I can't remember off the top of my head. That said, I did play one once and it was pretty nice. Not as nice as the Gibson but still a very nice guitar.

Ah, I see. I thought BB's original Lucille was a 335 - never heard of the 345, but then I guess they would have replaced the 345 with the Lucille model - makes sense now.

There was a whole slew of variations - 335, 345, 355, etc.

You can still get a 345. Funny thing is that a USA Lucille is less than a 335 or 345.

The USA Lucille is a wonderful instrument. Truly spectacular guitar. They can be had *relatively* cheap - about 1500-1600 new (don't pay attention to the MF price).

Speaking of MF, they have an Epi Lucille in the Blem category right now for $679.

BTW, if you are looking for a superb quality 335 style guitar, I would *strongly* suggest you look at the The Heritage 535 - they're made by ex-Gibson folks that bought the Kalamazoo plant when Gibson pulled out of town. They are brilliant guitars. And they'll make you what you want in terms of colors, woods, etc.

I know about Heritage - the quality and the prices

Not surprised MF has a Lucille blem for $680 - there's one on Ebay for $450. So far that's the best price I've seen, but still not sure if I want another guitar (just got a DR2 and a 650XL), a Ric 4001/4003, an SG (that damn SG thread ), that Winger on Ebay, or.....

DAMMIT! There's just too much cool shit available at one time

My poor wife...

(Me) Honey, can I get another guitar? There is this one on eBay that's a really good price and it's pretty rare. I gotta have it.

(Wife) You're kidding, right? You said the same exact thing about that other guitar you wanted last week. And what about that one you were bitching about that you "had to have" and then sold?
