• Any Nice PRS imitations out there?

I love the shape of the CU-24's and that, but not interested in a full blown PRS, I just cant afford it.

Anyone make any neckthru units with preferably a 25.5" scale (those agile ones look nice, but they are 24.75")

    Thanks for any help/suggestions

Check out the Carvin California Carved Top series. 25" scale, set neck instead of neck-thru, but many options available including Floyds! They also have a few in stock like this luscious black one with a Floyd for $929.00 plus shipping!

EDIT: Sorry I forgot these have only 22 frets

PRS guitars are 25" scale so I doubt you'll find any copies at 25.5" scale, and they are setneck, not neckthrough.

The Hamer Stellar guitars are a nice and cheap
PRS copy. The ST-3 is 2 humbuckers, tunomatic and stop tailpiece; the ST-1 has a HSS config and a Wilkinson-style trem. They can be had on Ebay for under $200 regularly. Upgrade the tuners and pickups and you have a decent PRS clone for small money. Small thing, but they have that open-book headstock very close to the Gibson look that I think looks cool.

The PRS Billy Martin SE is awesome. I have one and its even better than my Tremonti SE, and I actually like it better than my 'real' PRS Custom 22. For $500, you can't beat it. Same 25" scale and neck radius as USA PRSs. Pickups sound great. Nice fretwork, perfect intonation.

Try the Dean Hardtail select...imported version of the Hardtail. Haven't played one, but I hear they're awesome. All the Dean imports I've owned have been amazing, so I'm sure this one will be great, too. Here's a link to one on ebay:

I second MountainDog. The SE's are great playing guitars and the new prices aren't bad at all. Get a used one. You could mod the guitar the way you want it and still be out less than half the cost of a new CU24.

Not sure but if its within your price range but PRS CE24 are just as nice as customs. The only difference is a maple bolted neck vs Mahogany set neck. I actually pickup my CE before my custom. Both neck pockets sit exactly the same way, with the lip sitting underneath the neck pickup, with the only difference being glued vs bolted. Many times you can get these for as little as $800. Thats what I paid for both of mine. They also seem to hold there value pretty well so if you decide to sell you shouldn't have a problem getting your money back.

I was going to mention Carvin also, but again it's only 22 frets if that is an issue. Check this one out on eBay though...

Nice you really don't see tops like that on a PRS without a hefty price tag.

Yeah, PRS would be doubling the price for that one.

With Carvin you can request a certain style of quilt/flame. This guy claims he only paid $1,500.

Check out some of the USA Hamers doublecuts. Some of those can be had for a descent price. If those are too much check the imports out, they're killer too. Of course they aren't PRS copies, they're copies of old Gibson Juniors. Hamer copied Gibsons design and PRS copied both with a touch of Fender.
