  • Warmoth Project Completed! (Tank Guitar) w Pixx

    Hey guys,

It's been awhile since I've posted on here! Here's the Warmoth project I recently completed. As a World War II nut, I wanted to go with a Russian military theme.

Body: alder and lightweight; Original Floyd Rose; EMG-81
Neck: ebony board; Wolfgang profile; quilted maple headstock laminate; R3 nut

I had finished the headstock with polyurethane, and the back of the neck with Birchwood-Casey's gunstock oil and wax, same as Ernie Ball guitars. (Thanks to Mike W. of VintageKramer for the tip!)

One challenge was that I wanted to use regular-size Schaller tuners. In a lefty/reverse headstock, they are close to impossible to find. A friend of mine really saved me here--contacted Schaller in Germany, and mailed me a box of new reverse Schallers. Unfortunately this was a one-off for Schaller, normally they don't sell in small quantities.

I used BeyondCustomGuitars to airbrush the design. I think they did an amazing job with my design.

I'm really proud of the finished guitar--I've done Warmoth projects before, but this one topped them all. I am extremely happy how this one turned out, and she plays great!
Thanks for reading the story of my "Tank Guitar 2005."

If you have pics of your own camo/military theme guitars, post them here!

However the location of the vol knob is strange but of course your decision.

Thanks bros! Yup the volume location is a bit strange, but that's where Warmoth drilled it. I thought I would be accidentally hitting it when playing, but it hasn't given me any issues.

Very cool paint job on the body. Looks pretty 3D with the bolts and plates. Not sure I'm convinced that the flame maple headstock fits, but as long as you like it, that's the most important thing.

very cool. Amir Derahk has the coolest russian camo i have ever seen, with a reverse matching headstock.I still think my ferrari is the coolest camo, but im am very prejudiced .lol.

THanks for sharing, the pics from start to finish were killer.
