• Anybody try an EBMM Sub1?

I was at Bill's Music House outside of Baltimore on Friday looking for an amp and used the Sub1 to test out all of the amps.

I ended up taking home the Sub1 instead of an amp. I just could not get over how well it played. Pickups and hardware are just okay, but the setup and playability are incredible. I have never played a guitar that has action that low with no buzzing anywhere. $499 for a 2 hb model, made in the USA.

EBMM guitars rock.

yeah i am kinda tempted to pick one up also.
the paintjob kinda bothers me, but other than that, a good bargain for a new usa made guitar.

Ray, the guitar I got was Cinnamon in color and the textured finish (or lack of) makes it look like dark sandpaper.

Awesome guitars! I played a couple of SUB's last week and was blown away by them. As you said, the hardware is not up to par with the more expensive models, but the playability and tone are just as good.

Ernie Ball's just dont seem to get the respect they deserve. Sort of like Hamer. Both are just incredible guitars made in relatively small numbers with a ton of attention to detail. Yet Fender american (not CS) stuff flies out the door for the same money.

haven't seen one in the stores over here yet. But I did the SUB basses. Have played a few & reckon they're pretty great.

I'm looking forward to trying the guitars. Although they'll probably sell for close to AU$2K over here

EBMM guitars are great, I just wish they offered a couple set neck models. It could be like the high end option or something, playing a bolt on just bothers me ... the feel is so different.

I have a PAIR of them! They are pretty damn nice. The neck is what sold me. I have the cinnamon colored one with a black pickguard, 2 hums, and trem, and the black one with the metal "diamond plate" pickguard, 2 hums, and trm. They play great and sound pretty decent. I might replace the bridge pickup some day, but for now, it's fine.

If anyone out there is kicking around buying one, DO IT! I got mine for $399 each. Pretty good deal.

Re: Anybody try an EBMM Sub1?

I played a few of them at GC in Manhattan. They are pretty nice & excellent value for the money. To me the neck was a little on the thin side but the fret board had a flat radius. The body is not contoured at all but its not as bad as a tele or les paul. The finish on all of them was satin. The fret work was very good.

I have an Ernie Ball MM Petrucci. The Subs to me sounded nice but not as thick as my Petrucci. That may be because of the pickups though.
