Musikraft also supplies bodies and necks to some well known names. At one point (not sure if it still is true) they built Brian Moore's bodies and necks.

There is a charvel strat style in the drop down for headstock. Is that not the style you would want to choose?

I saw that option when vanosbourne pointed it out. I guess I missed the first time.

So if your going for a neck to be as close to an old Charvie as possible which options would you want to choose for the inlays, back profile and nut to heel width?

The nut heel should be 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" I think. The heel is 2 3/16" for stratheads, although I think some of the early ones are 2 1/8". Back profile is the .790 at the first fret I think.

Wow, I just saw this thread....A while back, a long while back actually, I had posted a few strathead necks in the classifieds. One was a maple Musikraft that was and still is unused. When I first got the neck, I was pretty pumped at how close it was to a Charvel strathead. I was lucky enough not to sell it and now I have a nice little collection of strathead necks. I think the Musikraft neck I have shows excellent craftsmanship and I plan on using it on one of the projects I have going soon.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking either the .790 thin or .830 med thin profile.

Tom, lets see some of those necks.

If it's a Charvel strathead, the heel is 2 1/8". If it's a pointy the heel is 2 1/4". I'm pretty sure this is right.

souldigger i don't know what you are planning, but remember it can be a bitch to find a good body with the proper heel for a 2 1/8 or 2 1/4 neck. so don't rule out a 2 3/16 heel to simplify your project.

L, I think I am going to go with a 2 3/16 just because I have a body to put it on that it that width. May not be perfect, but it will be way easier in the long run. Thanks for the heads up.

The low E & high E-strings are prone to slipping off the edge of the fretboard on 2 1/8" necks with a Floyd!!

I don't know much about the Musikraft necks, never owned or played one,but I've heard very good things about them!!

Re: the ball end of the headstock, neither the 54' or 60' is the correct San Dimas strathead shape imo,it's "rounder"!!
