Well all, I made it around to GMW just the other day, and did a full rundown of Genebaby's problematic guitar. I just sent my review to Vic and feel like both Lee and GMW deserves to have it posted here as well. The following is an excerpt from my email to Vic:
“The ebony inlays look very elegant on the maple board. The finish is impeccable, and goes very well with the color scheme of the guitar. I checked the new recess, it looks great to me. Lee even painted the inside of the route so it looks as if it were ordered that way! Next I checked the nut, it was on there tight, didn’t look uneven, and just as a whole looked, well, normal. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing wrong. Aesthetically speaking, the guitar is just stunning. Luckily for you, it plays as well as it looks.
I sat down with the guitar, played up and down the neck, and could find no fretting out at all. The action was actually lower than I normally like it, and it felt great! It plays better than any Jackson I’ve ever owned. After I had my fill, I handed it off to my friend, to see what he thought. This is a guy who plays finger-picking folk rock, so he was a little skeptical at first, but he loved the guitar. And can attest that your guitar is a monster, and one hell of a player.
To my eyes, the guitar is as close to perfect as could be. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Lee is fitting you a hard shell case and after that the guitar should be ready to go. I personally will vouch that this guitar is leaving GMW well set up, great looking, and exceedingly playable. There is no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy this guitar. "
Well that is the guitar itself. Lee says that is how it left GMW the first time, Vic says otherwise, I don't really know. But as it stands now, it's just a great guitar.
Regarding Lee and Vic butting heads, I know for a fact that Lee is the type of guy who will push back when someone pushes him. It seemed to me, that Vic more likely than not, probably felt the need to push fairly hard to get his guitar fixed. This is totally understandable. Lee isn't the ogre has was made out to be in the previous thread. In actuality, he did a lot of work, and really went out of his way to make Vic happy with this guitar, even at cost to him. However, as a result of this, Vic has one quality axe waiting for him.
Anyways, that is pretty much it. I'm sure Vic will be happy with his new guitar. I have a whole bunch of pictures, but I'll let Vic do the posting, since I don't want to steal his thunder.
