So I've been playing around with this guitar a bit this week. I can get some great tones with this axe. I am not a JB fan -- I prefer a 59 or Custom pickup. But the combination of maple top, alder back, and the JB are getting some great, thick tones. Especially when the vol knob is dropped down to about eight, with the Marshall gain at approx 11AM. Very thick, dark, Les Paul tones with a nice snappy edge, perfect for blues and 70s rock. Step on the Rat and the Fulltone 2 boost and I get a great singing lead tone. I am very happy with the tones of this guitar and how well it works with the JB. Makes me wonder what it would sound like with a 59.
