I'm still pissed that I passed on an '80s USA Warlock in a silver/black zebra pattern that was sitting in a local store collecting dust for several years back in the late '90s--they were asking less than $300 for it, I believe. A more knowledgeable store here ended up getting ahold of it, cleaned it up and sold it for at least $900. Yup, that was the one. The old Arlington branch of Atomic Music had it for pretty much as long as they were open, and they couldn't seem to give the damn thing away. Soon as Matt at Action Music gets ahold of it, he cleans it up and sells it for triple the price. That guy knows his stuff. Did you see the beautiful vintage 6-string Bich he had in there a few months ago? I was slobbering all over that, but he wanted (and got) about $1800 for it. A little too rich for me, or is that "rich bich"... [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I love pointy headstocks, including the Widow headstock. I've seen a few Bich's with Widow headstocks that I think look great. I don't care much for the Bich with a 6 inline headstock. I saw an early ST3 with a Ironbird-like headstock that looked pretty cool.

I have to agree. BC Rich isn't the "Metal Guitar Super Power" it once was. They seem to be cattering to the drop C crowd. I am a big fan of the Warlock, Mockingbird, Bitch and Gunslinger. Since the 80's, BC Rich has gone way down the proverbial "hill". Back in March 03 when I went to see Kerry King at Grandma's Music while he was on the BCR promo tour/Guitar Abuse clinic, I talked to one of the reps. I told him how glad I was to see him because I wanted to tell him how much BC Rich is starting to suck. He was startled at my statement and asked why. I informed him that I used to own a few BCR's back in the 80's and that I loved them not only for looks, but the sound, feel and over all quality. I put in my requests as follows:

1. Go back to alder or even mahogony. WTF is Chesswood?
2. Dump the speed loader from the up and coming line of NJ's or at least make it an optional thing.
3. GET RID OF THAT STUPID LOOKING WIDOW HEADSTOCK AND GO BACK TO THE OLD 3X3 AND POINTIES!

He advised me that that wouldn't be happening.......ever! The BCR buying public is mostly teenage Static X and Slayer fans that like what Tripp and Kerry are playing (Tripp's sig model is actualy pretty conservative compared to some of the others) and some if not most of these kids aren't as aware of what it takes to achieve great tone and to copy their heroes great tone. Were any of us at 13 or 14? Us old farts do remember and they are failing to cater to us! I wish they would put out a Warlock made of alder or mahogony with a pointy headstock if not the old LP type 3X3! I would buy one right now. Until one of their endorsers want it, it won't happen. Thats business though. I guess that's why I play Jackson. Jackson more or less gives us what we want and hasn't changed much over the years.

There's been plenty of discussion about the downfall of BCR on the MCS forum. Some BCR folks even dropped by to "discuss" things but simply showed that they don't treat their customers very well or consistently. Since HHI took over they became very bizarre.

BCR & HHI is a joke. BCR IMHO hasnt been the same since 89. even after class axe "Rico era" the guitars are nothing like they used to be. they are about 1/4" thicker, the necks are different, the truss rods dont work properly or rattle in the few ive worked on. they claim to be handmade in the USA which they are NOT. QC has been lacking at best. ide buy an ESP before i bought a newer BCR.

BCR is a mere shadow of what they used to be. Pretty sad! You can't even really get what you want the way you want it from their custom shop!!
