Got her back after about a year and half wait for relicing. This guitar started life as a green USA 57 Reissue which I tried to relic myself (i.e fucked it totally up but in my defense this was before relicing was popular). I always loved the beat to death look and I ask her to be Charvelized a little by removing the finish from the back of neck and the bridge pku is a hot rails (glued a cover on top of it). She came out great, if you like the beat look and plays even better.

Re: Beat to death Fender Strat....
It's got charm! But no way would I ever do that intentionally to a guitar, it's only good to me if it comes throughout its lifetime, which adds character.
It does look good though, is that fretboard still 'playable', though? You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Re: Beat to death Fender Strat....
I can vouch that it is perfectly playable: Like Tracy says, it does have a Charvel feel to it....Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Re: Beat to death Fender Strat....
The guy that does my work is Nate Snell, his site is www.melodycustom.com and he is very picky and pays great attention to deatil.
This particular wait time was not the norm as he is normally pretty fast. I sent 3 of my friends there (Shawn being one) and everyone is blown away with his work.
Here is a pic of the Tele and Strat together..he did them both.

On the fretboard, does it feel bumpy at all where the wood is exposed?

Nope you can not feel the difference...the finsih on these fretboards was very thin to begin with so it was just relic'd (worn and dyed I assume to mimic natural play wear) but nope you don't feel any difference at all.www.usacharvels.com - info, pics and Charvel guitar discussion board. Wow, that's very cool. From the pictures, I was imagining this huge drop from the lacquer to the wood.

Hey Tracy, just let me make sure I understand how this works. You send a cool guitar to me for like a year. I get to beat the shit out of it. And you pay me to do it. Where do I get in line?I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
