You don't see car manufacturers reproducing economy guitars of yester year. You're not going to find the faithfully restored '76 Honda Civic.

well, I don't know. Will the Honda Custom Shop offer them as a reliced model? I'd pay good money for a brand spankin' new, beat-to-hell '76 Civic. That would be much nicer than a minty reissue '76 Civic. I like my Civics to look they've been on a world tour or three BEFORE I get them

Ya know, it is much more relic'd in person. Much like Mark's Full floater. Do you still have a pic of that?

I must be tired. A "Full Floater" somehow did not seem like something I wanted to envision.

from an artistic standpoint, i like the relic process. i think taking something new, and methodically making it look old is, well, pretty cool. they don't just take the guitar and drag it behind a car on their smoke breaks... but smoke breaks (from what i'd been told by a fender rep) are how the guitars get cigarette burns.

clearing over a relic job is silly, though.

From an artistic standpoint I agree it's kinda cool. From a standpoint of actually owning guitars that have been played vs. buying milli vanilli legitamecy (sp) and instant been there done that - I think they are a total joke. There will always be people who are willing to pay the stupid prices for them, so they're not going away. A good guitar is a good guitar - buying a relicd one vs. playing one into relicd submission yourself is sorta weak. YMMV.
