• The Fate of the Floyd Rose Redmond Series

Sounds like a novel! Whats going on with these guitars? There are many Ebay listings for them but not a single one ever sells. I think only one in the last few weeks and that was for around $900.00. I talked to a few bro's that work at guitar shops and they won't touch them. Not because they aren't good. They all agree they are fine guitars with fine trems. It is because they don't sell. People just can't get used to not having tuners and only being able to buy 1 brand of strings that are double what a normal set costs (actually triple if you buy your normal strings in 3 packs or bulk).
Do you think they are going to die a horrible death? I can tell you one thing that I didn't like. I know it is trivial but the volume know is a real piece of crap. Its a cheap plastic ugly knob. It doesn't even look nice on the guitar.
What do you guys think?

Friend of mine bought a BC Rich Beast with the floyd speedloader setup and the 'fake' headstock. More power to him, but having to use special strings sucks. It's one of the down sides to my steinberger, other than it's kahler-iffic transtrem

Re: The Fate of the Floyd Rose Redmond Series

I've seen them hanging on the wall at a local guitar store, but I've never tried one out. For me, the Speedloader trem is the answer to a question I never asked.

They are GREAT guitars. If I could afford one, I'd bite.

The only big deal about them is the trem. Other that that, they're just another Strat rip-off. Yamaha Pacificas are more affordable.

Re: The Fate of the Floyd Rose Redmond Series

I played one and loved it. If I had the money, I'd get one.

I think the no-tuners thing scares people. But even more so, is the very ODD feeling from the very light headstock. If they put maybe a counter-weight in the headstock, to balance out the weight of the missing tuners, then it would feel more right, and I think people would like them more.

The one I tried was fantastic. Very nice sounding, great playing guitar.

Re: The Fate of the Floyd Rose Redmond Series

I loved the two I tried, but they're pretty expensive over here and I don't want to get stuck with something that they stop making strings for and so I can't sell....I've had one expensive oddity and I like to think I've learnt my lesson!

Sure, so the general feeling is that they are great. I agree. Since the above statements are true, why aren't they selling? Lack of visible Endorsee's?
If EVH or Vai were playing them they would be the next rage.

I love my Speedloader JEM. The bridge is fantastic.

I think they would sell much better, if the strings weren't so exspensive. If they were a bit more attractive they would sell better too. They do look well built.

I think they should go headless...............

Agreed on the headless idea, as that deformed coathanger headstock is entirely lame. Even more lame than a Speedloader'd guitar with what amounts to an unfinished headstock.
Now, it might work for a neck-heavy guitar if the lack of a head or tuners would eliminate the problem of nosedives, but I can't see a headless Kelly or other Explorer/Star shape

I'm sure the Floyd guitars and other Speedloader'd models are nice players, but are they BETTER than other "regular" guitars with "regular" Floyd trems, even to the point of being worth the expense of the custom strings? If not, then the sheer novelty of it is the only selling point IMO.
