Just got off the phone with Dave @ GMP...they're all done. Too bad, they gave it a hell of a go. I'm sure the prices on any future GMP's available for sale will be affected by the news. They are GREAT instruments, that's for damn sure. My $300.00 GMP Pawnshop score will be here today, can't wait.

First, I'm still pissed I missed all those cheap GMPs on ebay
Second, when you spend ~50K twice a year to display your guitars in the basement of NAMM, you better sell a sh*t load to cover the cost. They put all their eggs in one basket and it didn't work out.

Re: GMP is done for good...
They made something under 1150 guitars total. My NAMM '01 piece is #504 so figure they were moving something like 160 guitars/year the last few years. If they were grossing an average of $1250 / guitar (I've heard that all of the eBay auctions were below to waaaay below dealer cost so this might be close to in the ballpark) that's only $200,000 in cash flow. In southern California you could barely run a 2-man shop on that. Seems like they might have been a victim of a classic small business catch-22: not enough sales to generate the revenue necessary to advertise enough to increase sales.Catapultam habeo. Re: GMP is done for good...
I think that would be a lonely dusty forum.
Sad thing is that someone the other night said they'd been around since the early 90s. If that's accurate, which is probably is, then my #504 from the '01 NAMM show indicates that they'd been producing no more than ~50/year to that point. The Roxie I just got is tagged 1/3/05 & is #1051. I've seen numbers to around 1120 though I'm sure there are a few more. If those numbers are a guide, between January & around the 1st of May they did 70 or so. That's 280/year and getting close to what, to me, seems like critical mass for a small shop. Looks like they pulled the plug just when they were getting close.Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam!

Re: GMP is done for good...
The GMP forum has been down for a looooong time. The site was www.gmpguitarforum.com . If Mr. Graphic starts that forum up, I'll be there! I'll even help design the site!
