Re: Opinions Please on this sale.

I know it's a hassle, but I believe you want to wash your hands of this guy ASAP. Just get the guitar and give him his money back so he doesn't bitch and whine publicly about it.

Here's what I would do: get the guitar back, and sell it for what it's really worth. Then send this nincompoop a nice e-mail detailing the fact that you made a cool $1000 off of his stupidity, and that he's a moron who will never see such a good deal again. But say it in a nice way...

Ah this guy is driving me nuts. He was supposed to send it overnight. I get the tracking # and it's express saver. Meaning 4 days till I get it. I know it will get here in 1 piece, but it's just another example of this guy being a cheapskate(sp?), didn't want to spend $30 for bank wire(had me hold onto his check since the 25th). Doesn't want to spend the extra money to ship a 4K guitar, even that's how he wanted it. I am going to deduct the shipping from his refund, screw him.

[/ QUOTE ]

OK, now that I read this closer I'd really be worked up. Your refund agreement was based on him shipping it back next day. He didn't follow this so the deal is off. He's taking up time that you could use to sell the guitar. Personally I would send him this email-

Hello - since you didn't not follow the terms of the refund we agreed to I will not be accepting the guitar back. I am refusing the Fed Ex shipment when it arrives. The guitar is being returned to you and I am keeping the money. Please do not contact me again. I am blocking your email from my account and will not answer any more questions concerning this matter. Have a nice day and thank you for the business.

[/ QUOTE ]

I second that.

Re: Opinions Please on this sale.

Well this morning I get an email from him, with a quote in it stating "yes, guitar is in perfect condition". Ok yes I said it, I must be getting old, since I forgot about all the damge on it(lol). So I call him up asking him what the point of the email was(since the guitar is already being sent back, I believe it was just an twist in the screw back at me for the you were supposed to send it Overnight email I sent him). He tells me it's for my records, in case I deleted mine. Again I ask what ws the point, and why didn't you send it overnight? He skirts the issue. I then tell him that I won't be able to send him his money till the 18th, because my bank put an 11 day business hold on his check( I checked and the funds have cleared, but they are not available to me yet). Then he starts with the well my bank ttook it out already, why can't you send it. I tell him I don't have you money yet, you did keep the email I sent you with the statement from my bank stating that the funds would not be available till the 17th right. He goes I guess, well you did keep a copy right? ALL his emails come from Columbia university. So the other day I check their website and do a search for this guy, turns out he is a psycology(sp?) major( I think I am part of an experiment in human behavior , to see how people deal with crap). I then inform him that I have talked about this with other people and that almost everyone is in the agreement that his behaviour is just over the top. I tell him you know you got a high end guitar for a good price, yet from the beginning you have nickel and dimed me in this situation. He says the money doesn't matter, I said it obviously does or you would not of had a problem using a bank wire, and would have overnighted the guitar back. I tell him if you have looked you know that you are not going to find one at a better price. That even if you bought a completely brand new case and screw frol PRS you would still be up hundreds. He then says I gave him no choice, because in our conversation yesterday, when he asked what we could do to remedy this, I told him well if your not happy send it back. I asked then what would have been a remedy for you. I offered you $50 off. He then says but what about the case. I told him that he was crazy if he thought I was going to flip for a new case, or even 1/2 it with him. He then goes on about how he wanted to "collect" it and since the case is damaged, he can't do that. I said you know I don't understand how you would reject the guitar based on a scuff mark the size of a AA battery on the bottom of the case, but your choice ,so bid. I will send you the check when the funds clear. I left it at that. I will post more, if there is any breaking news.

I still say, for the inconvenience he has charged you...reject the return. Let him get the guitar back, keep his money and see if he does anything further. This has been an ordeal for you, he has put you through an incredible hassle and has not held up his end of the bargain on any front.

He gets a big FUCK YOU from me if I was in your shoes.

No, he is from Astoria, an Asian guy(I am only pointing this out for descriptive purposes only, not "hey he's fucking asian"). Says that he post more on the Anderson Forum.

He wanted to "collect" the guitar, and is returning it because of the case damage? What a maroon.

You seem to be an upstanding seller. I would cut off all communication with the guy now. At this point, the return deal is done and just needs to be followed through on. Any other talks with the guy will only produce frustration.

Say nothing more to him. Wait for the guitar to arrive. If all is OK, send him his money once it has cleared your bank, and be done with him.

That's exactly what I am going to do. Get it back, refund him, and chalk it up to experience. Thanks guys for all the post.

Glad to see it's (almost) resolved!

In the end it'll be for the better. Ask $4500 for it, so you're already $500 up from this deal.

Screw that guy altogether, just because he was afraid that casedamage would inhabit him from flipping it over instantly and make a quick $1000, he put you through masses of shit.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Re: Opinions Please on this sale.

Well, I can see the scuffs in the case and little nicks on the bridge stud. That still brings me to "So?" I've never gotten a new case flawless, they get scuffed up sitting in the back of the store! As for the stud, I would have done what you did--offer to spring for a new one, just to shut him up, but make him ship the old one back.

Send him back $3900, make him eat the initial shipping. You offered to make it right with the stud, but the case thing reminds me of Bill Hartman's anal rententive guy on Saturday Night Live.

When you get the guitar, make sure to go over it with a fine tooth comb, and if you find anything wrong, no matter how small, send him pics and say you're not refunding the money becauase he put new damage on it. "Well, these are the original strings, and now you've gone and coroded one of them." Then send it back via UPS ground.

I'd send it back by Parcel Post (with Delivery Confirmation of course); should take about 2 weeks...

Well, I got it back. Put it up for sale, and it sold in less that 24 hours. As far as I am concerned, it's over. We'll see if there are any problems with the new buyer.
