Re: GMW\'s

Lee is not doing business in any way that is disrespectful to his customers. He is truly in a slight holding pattern waiting for some issues to resolve.
The wood is all ordered and the bodies have been cut for the first batch of guitars.

All i can offer is to ask the we be patient. I am waiting along with all you guys.

Re: GMW\'s

Maybe "disrespectful" is too strong of a word, but the laid back attitude is certainly there and to me is something that probably could have been handled differently. Again, I understand the point of he trying to legally protect his designs, but hasn't this taken too long? It's like Shawn says "Soon, just as it was 6 months ago. Soon just as it was 3 months ago. Soon just as it was 6 weeks ago. Soon just as it was 3 weeks ago. Soon just as it was 6 days ago. Soon just as it was 3 days ago. Soon as it is today, tomorrow, next week, next month and possibly next year". One thing is too be patient, but this is absurd.

Econ, I understand what you are trying to say but if Lee is trying to handle this carefully, it is all up to him, not us.
It is his business that he is making sure these new headstocks will be protected and able to release without any problems.

I can see now why Lee took a vacation and is going to take another soon because things are not moving as he hoped for.
I know Lee can build stuff fast but these new headstcoks, he has to go through a lot of things before.
And believe me, he works hard like 7days a week(it doesn't say on his website but he is always working). He has been working hard for many years. I am glad he was finally able to take vacations and I would expect him to be working harder than ever once he launches his new guitars.

With regard to the new GMW headstocks, I can't believe Ford (for example) would send out pics of their new range to customers 6 months prior to the official release, just because those customers have owned Fords for the last 15 years or whatever...

It's kind of funny with Lee: Quite a few people here have been vocal in their issues with him, and from what they've said, IMO they have every right to be pissed off.

However, I've been dealing with him for 4 years and have never had any issues at all. Maybe that's because I've been fortunate, maybe it's because I treat my dealings with him with 'kid gloves', but whatever, I'll keep going back until I have good reason not to.

Re: GMW\'s

Well...think about this....If building and selling guitars is the business that Lee is in and how he makes his income, he too is anxious to get the guitars out there.

It is of no benefit to him to delay anyone intentionally.

Everyday the headstock designs are not ready and available, is another day that Lee has to forgo making a sale.

Just my 2 cents

Re: GMW\'s

I didn't mean for my post about the headstock to be a pot shot at Lee. I have no issues with him. I let his work do the talking. His product is worth the wait. Having said that I am used to a certain headstock shape. I would like more GMW's in the future but will not place any order until I know what it looks like. Lets face it, there are many great guitars out there that are excellent guitars but I won't buy them no matter how great they are if I do not like the headstock shape. For me, that is why the design is so important.

These periodic or intermittent references to the new headstock design in GMW threads on this forum and a few other ones as well just sucks imho. If these guys would have never originally brought the topic up or claim to have an inside scoop info who would care? We'd just wait until its out I understand the legal implications involved but its not like secrets of the universe are going to be revealed

btw I heard a picture was posted on some forum and it really wasn't that important for me to go look for it...I figure if it was ready and 100% Lee would have it on his website

I am the same way, headstocks, shapes of guitr etc.. are important to me. My big thing is i love jackson guitars, they play great, however as i get older i dont really care for the sharkfin inlays anymore so i get turned off by them.

This is like comparing apples to oranges. First car companies release there designs usually a half year to a year in advance, but second they never start taking orders for them till the final design is approved and sent out for the public to see the design. To make things short he could just post a pic and say more then likley this is going to be the design if all legal issues clear etc... All he is doing now is screwing himself, some people might just get fustraited and move on!

OK, here is an idea.
Install speedloader or Trans trem and cut the headstock off.
So no more wondering about headstock shapes.

Re: GMW\'s

I've seen them...

1) Think pointier version of an Ibanez head but with an arched (raised radius) head face and tuners angled (i.e countersunk in the back).

2)Think Phil Collen PC1 head with arched head face and angled countersunk tuners.

They're not exactly the same shape as those 2 (Ibanez & PC1) but they're pretty close.

They sound like interesting designs, but I can't quite picture them in my head! Not sure I like the idea of an arched Ibanez headstock though.
