• My new 7-string

Schecter Diamond Series 007 Elite in see-thru black quilt top. The back of the body is also a see-thru black that shows off the nice mahogany grain, but it's pretty dark to see unless up close. It's all mahogany with a set neck (though, it appears almost to be neck-thru), very light weight, binding is a nice creme color, rosewood board with big diamond abalone-looking inlay at the 12th fret. The board is a little dry and could use some oil, but I can't find any fault with this guitar. This really is a very nice playing Korean-made guitar. The Duncan Designed pups don't sound too bad, but they're a little weak in output for my tastes... I'll probably replace them eventually with either some DiMarzios or maybe Rio Grandes. Also has Grover tuners and Tone Pros locking bridge that are a matte satin chrome that almost looks gray.

Thanks. I dig the H/S configuration, too. It's also got a cool archtop to it if you can't tell.

WOW!
Looks GREAT!
I have never seen a 7string guitar with single coil in the neck position..
How does it sound?
The body looks thicker. very nice!
Congrats Joe!!

Re: My new 7-string

Yes, the body is thicker... close to LP thickness. It's a little slimmer in the middle of the back with the belly bevel. I can't believe this thing is mahogany; it feels so light! Seems it may be a tiny bit neck heavy, but not really a problem. Sounds really good to me.
This is the newer model shown on Schecter's site. The MF site where I ordered it from has the old one with black hardware and a stop tailpiece, two small diamond inlays at the 12 fret. I originally ordered it in Black Cherry, but the idiots at MF couldn't tell me if the ones they were getting in were with black hardware as advertised on their site or not. I mentioned about the new Schecter site with satin chrome hardware and they had no clue, said they should be getting the black hardware. Well, I decided to go with the trans black since I figured Schecter was going to wind up sending the brand new model and MF didn't update their site, and I didn't think the black cherry looked that good with the chrome hardware.

And I got it for only $519 since I found another site with that price, so MF matched it.

Great!
Do you have a picture of the back?
I want to see the neck plate area.

Re: My new 7-string

Here's the back. The specs say it's setneck, and I think it is, otherwise I'd think the body would be a little heavier if it were neck-thru. It's just so smooth with no heel!

OH!
I was thinking it was a bolt on..
GREAT!
I have a guitar with all Mahogany and yea, it is super light.
I prefer heavier guitar though..

I have been GASing on PRS guiatr lately...

I also prefer a little heavier, but it does feel nice. This thing's even got a push/pull coil tap in the tone pot! And the controls are even recessed because of the archtop.

No, I've still got my black string-thru Professional Dinky HX with EMG 85/60. I won't let that one go.
