• Custom strats?

If I want someone to build me a custom Strat in, say, the $1000-$2000 range, what're my options? I know about GMW and San Dimas Guitars--are there any others?

Thanks.

Grosh, Anderson, Suhr, and Zion are all excellent.

Also, +1 for Rob DiStefano at Frettech - he's a great guy to deal with.

Also, +1 for bolting it together yourself from parts - lots of fun and with USACG and Warmoth parts it is pretty straightforward.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Is Performance Guitars in CA still around?
It might be tough to have a Grosh, Anderson, Suhr or Zion built for 1K to 2K.
Carvin is an option for custom too. They build everything to order and there are many options. You can build a really sweet Carvin for under 2K. Thats for sure.

Re: Custom strats?

Thanks for the frettech link. Looks cool.

I've thought about rolling my own--I've done it in the past, but I wanted a professional to do it for me. Oh, and I was looking at my Warmoth dinky body last night and the routing on it is terrible. Did I just get a bad one or is this common? (It is about 20 years old--maybe they've gotten better?)

Performance is still around. They're selling some crazy expensive copies of Warren's guitars but I don't know if they take online orders:

Oh, and I get the impression that people don't like Wayne around here? I don't think I'd buy anything from them anyway, because I hate their headstocks. Just wondering.

They're a bit on the high side, price wise. They start at $2500. Is the actual street price lower than list, even on custom guitars?

You should be getting much cheaper price than the retail price.
Why not contact Matt's and find out?

I don't think you need any other options really. GMW is they way to go for the price.

I'm a little scared of contacting GMW. It sounds like they can be tough to deal with. Plus, I really don't want to wait 2 years for a guitar.

I might look into how much a custom Charvel costs.

Custom Strat with Solid Color wouldn't take 2 years.
Where did you get that idea from?
