Custom Strat with Solid Color wouldn't take 2 years.
Where did you get that idea from?

[/ QUOTE ]

It might have been in the classifieds, in the thread where someone was selling a Jake? (I can't find the thread now.)

I would want a dyed figured top or a graphic if I decided to go the custom route.

Charvel...or perhaps someone local could build you something out of parts?

Fact of the matter is with Lee, you just don't know when it will be done. There are indeed people waiting two years for a GMW. I wouldn't do it, either.

I find that the only people who have to wait two years are those with really really fancy graphics. If you want something simple it should be pretty fast.

Ahh...but there's the rub. It should be, and may be, but it may not be and once you've paid for it, you are at the mercy of Lee's whims. It matters not what he tells you the turn around will be, it will probably be double that. And then some in most cases.
Remember the "It's ready for paint" thread? these are true stories.
How many times have we heard about Lee's deadlines, and 90% of the time it's not flattering information.

For a basic solid color strat, I would buy Warmoth parts all day long and have someone build it for me if I didn't care to do it myself. I've owned many GMWs and I can tell you first hand, there is nothing special about them. It took me a long time to learn that, but that's the facts.

If you need something very custom, or a Charvel restore, something specific that he can do, great. For a solid color strat? No way.

Re: Custom strats?

I have been very pleased with the turn around time of my GMW's. The longest one took about 8 months or so. If you keep in contact with Lee every few months, he seems to keep you on the front burner.

I disagree. For me at least, there is something very special about my first GMW. It is a basic star body black with maple fretboard gold floyd and one hum. It is the first guitar that I know I will be taking to my grave with me.

Buy a new charvel, I don´t think 1.5k street price is out of the range between 1 and 2 k

Lets not forget Fender and Charvel

The new Charvels are cool as hell.

I recently parted together a 97 Fender USA neck and Mighty-Mite body, Duncans, ORF and a 3 way. Damn thing is killer and on par with my GMW, Charvel and Jacksons.

If not one of those 2 and if it were my money it be GMW, Anderson or Suhr.

But what's the wait time? Also, I don't see you getting a custom shop Charvel for much less than 2k
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Also, on the pricelist, there's no option for getting a strathead. Do they not offer that on customs? It'd be quite a bummer if that's the case.

did you just ask if Charvel does stratheads?

Yeah I did. Someone who wasn't a retarded monkey might deduce from my low post count that I'm new to the J/C world. Sorry if I offended your monkey sensibilities with my noob question.

Since you know everything, could you show me where on the price list where it tells you how much a strathead costs on a custom? Thanks. I only see options for pointies and the PC1 headstock, but that might because my incredible noobness prevents me from seeing the strathead option.

My apologies if you weren't being an ass and were just asking for clarification because I didn't type loudly enough in my original post.

wow, way to win friends and influence people.

The reason stratheads are not offered on Custom Shop pricelist is because they are not available. The only place you'll find a strathead on a new Charvel is on the recent limited runs.
